    Hmm, I dont want it.

I'm in no way at all a gun fetishist, I might've been in my teens or pre-teen years but I'm in no way one of those now. Infact I think people like that are sad bastards and do fit into Eric Fromm's typology of necrophilious (loving inanimate, material objects, treating or wishing to transform others into inanimate objects) as opposed to biophilious (loving people or living things, living, relating productively).

I do believe in the right to self-defence, I even support the right to duelling (or other risky life choices) but relishing gun ownership uber alas is just ill shit. Perspective is needed on this topic.

I also think it goes without speaking that you forfeit your right of ownership when you commit violent crimes. There should also be said limitations to the diagnosed mentally ill.
To be honest my definition of rights would be very, very narrow, much more narrow than that. Rights require to be respected and whatever can reasonably be expected to done to satisfy they should be, most of the time that would involve non-interference from the authorities or others.

Its a little like saying every lion has a right to an antellope for breakfast, what if there just arent any antelope around?

Where's the option: "Guns are inanimate objects and cannot be classified as 'good' or 'evil', but they can most certainly be dangerous and used to harm others as well as to protect yourself."

    Or the shorter option

"Maybe... I wouldn't mind owning one, but I mind if you do."

...if we didn't have guns we wouldn't have First-person shooters and life just wouldn't be worth enough to enjoy.
