Guns are neither good nor evil. Look at the person wielding the gun, not the gun itself. :P

If I had to choose between guns existing and not existing. I'm glad they exist. Like what I said in the nuclear bomb thread. It's a good thing to have the capability for evil within reach, but be taught the strength to control it. Ignorance is not valuable in my book.

Guns aren't evil. Guns facilitate evil.

Before guns, it was easier for the strong to dominate the weak; guns are tools of equalization, whether in terms of fuedal privilage or immediate self-defense against criminals.

They make it easier to kill people all around, was my point. Guns took the playing field and just made it more deadly.

Sometimes, violence or the threat of violence is necessary to protect yourself or others.

I think it's worth saying. There are those who forget it.

I have a question for you (yes, you): would preventing a suicidal person access to a gun be considered robbing them of a quick and painless way for them to die?

Yes, it would. By somebody. Somewhere.

Hey, you asked the question... if you didn't get the answer you wanted, be more specific.

I don't think that a background check that lets a dealer know if a person has been convicted of a felony or is fresh out of a mental institution is an undue restriction on their rights, but I do believe in the right to end your life as you see fit.
