He's already been caught with his hand in the cookie jar, and thus isn't a very trustworthy person. Politics is a lot like poker, credibility is worth a lot. I'm not saying that the other Clinton would be a lot better, but the world didn't dwell on her "sniper fire" thing... And what the world thinks is most important for a secretary of state, as you know.

I find myself in the awkward position of being in agreement with the guy whose avatar is a panda about to whack another panda with a folding chair on this one.

There were no shortage of differences within these metrics between, say, Al Haig and George Schultz.

Generally, to the thread: On account of Hillary Clinton's foreign policy positions being among the most hawkish in the Democratic Party -- receptive to nation-building, as opposed to the half-hearted non-interventionism of Chuck Hagel, a Republican prospect for the post -- I can't fault the apparent choice.

    im with u.

over half of america is women, who make up the economy, politics, society, etc... its more than a good gesture of goodwill to "women" in terms of making up. same with liberman, etc... even tho lieberman was a bit too much imo. oh wells.

the only weird vibes i got from her was when she was holding on in the primaries a bit too much. but she is definitely far from an illogical person in face of facts like bush was. she'll do fine.

Funny, I've drawn that analogy as well. However, I wish to follow in the tradition of Cicero in showing disgust at the path that our dear Republic is taking itself down.

Because things don't just happen by directive in any political environment. It's the proverbial "scratch my back". In slightly more involved terms, the Clintons have political power, and by extending the olive branch, she'll contribute to his views because she is somewhat dependent on him. It will also minimize collateral damage of having her not be nominated. There is no offsetting loss - it won't gain him any negative spin, except from those that already dislike everything he stands for, and solidifies those that he lost. The camp division he faced is somewhat minimized, while his influence increased, without significant loss to the general population... over the long run, once the "OMG he's so socialist and blah blah what about change" gut reaction ends, anyway.

I saw this comment in response to the decision made by Obama, it pretty much sums up how things seem to have gone awry!

"God save America if this is true. Forget the cheesy photo ops. Look at her deeds. She is the modern day Lady Macbeth wielding her insatiable, devious, ruthless pursuit of power, using her husband who was the leader in name only; a flawed man, driven by his psychotic wife to doomed adventures.

Bill Clinton was too morally stupid to comprehend his true fate, and its ignominious consequences on himself, and effects on others.

Obama will be Macbeth in our times IF he foolishly foists Hilary onto the world stage.

Woe to the world when the power hungry she wolf Clinton devours all before her in pursuit of her vainglorious ambition - for herself, no one else. A fascist in the making."

what do you predict mccain would have differently, besides dying midterm and leaving sarah palin in charge?

btw, since when is the telegraph a reputable paper? I always thought it was the fox news of the print world.
