Am I the only person with a stick up my ass who finds the middle school punning and wisecracking in a ridiculous number of threads totally annoying?

    C'mon people. Seriously.

What's this thread about again? I lost track.
"We grow up thinking that beliefs are something to be proud of, but they're really nothing but opinions one refuses to reconsider. Beliefs are easy. The stronger your beliefs are, the less open you are to growth and wisdom, because "strength of belief" is only the intensity with which you resist questioning yourself. As soon as you are proud of a belief, as soon as you think it adds something to who you are, then you've made it a part of your ego."

Yea I'm sorry. Couldn't help it. I would comment but my knowledge of anything political is rather meager, I did actually feel bad derailing the thread a bit. I just couldn't let that name go. wow you probably think I'm a total d***

    Carry on.

I think it makes an important point, something that I hope people think about more often than it seems. Looking back further than just a few years is necessary (usually) for historical context. It helps keep overall perspective.

I've seen commentators express this as "The country's problems didn't start with George Bush, and they won't end with George Bush". Is this all along the lines of what you meant to discuss, Pure Mercury?
You can't spell "justice" without ISTJ.

That's part of it. I think it's important to highlight these issues. When you actually read the litany of violations and enormities under U.S. presidents in the last 80 years or so, it should give you pause. And it certainly isn't limited by party.
