David Duke recognizes the discrimination against white people though, which is very much alive, and which everyone else seems to overlook.

I think we should push for a Sharpton/Duke ticket, so we've got all the bases covered.

I've generally been rather conservative in the past pertaining to fiscal matters and state's rights, but I'm more liberal pertaining to moral issues (abortion, gay marriage, etc.). I mostly believe in as little government intervention as possible (although I'm not sure that I'm quite libertarian). It isn't the governments job to regulate stupidity. The entire purpose of a government is to give protection in exchange for freedom. So, here is how it generally goes, imo:

    1. weak people give freedom to to the strong for external protection
    (a gov't is born)
    2. government provides external protection
    3. gov't creates internal protection to protect itself
    (via crime control, etc)
    4. people start bitching, but ultimately agree to it
    5. gov't collapses from the inside or is taken over if it is too weak externally

The fact is, I think that most governments are far too large to really provide for the citizens. I want to choose what I do, I don't want the government to choose for me. If I want to gamble, that's my decision. If I want to hire a prostitute, that's my decision. (I would like to do neither, but you get the idea). The government's job is not to protect me from myself.

Unfortunately, anarchy is not possible (not claiming to be an anarchist, just trying ot make a point). If there were no government, it would only take a matter of days for people to realize that 2 is stronger than 1, and then they begin imposing their will "for the greater good."

...or perhaps I am just a disenchanted political science student...

Since marriage is a religious/spiritual concept, the government should have no say on the matter. The government should not be able to grant marriage license, nor should married couples of any kind be able to have financial benefits courtesy of the government.

    I completely agree.

    Where did I say that?

It takes corrupt politicians to take the money from the corporations and do their bidding.

What's with people always hating on CEOs? My parents were able to raise me to adulthood in a warm home with plenty of food thanks to competent CEOs keeping their places of employment afloat.

Libertarian is the one that fits the closest. I view myself as a Classical Liberal.
