Default Norm Coleman vs. Al Franken

Coleman is ahead of Franken in the Minnesota Senate race by 477 votes with 100% of the polls in. There will be a recount. The third party candidate garnered 15% of the vote, Coleman and Franken are at 42% each. This is great theater.

I voted in Minnesota (I could have voted in Florida or Missouri, too), via absentee ballot, just so I could vote against Franken. That guy is a garbage.
"We grow up thinking that beliefs are something to be proud of, but they're really nothing but opinions one refuses to reconsider. Beliefs are easy. The stronger your beliefs are, the less open you are to growth and wisdom, because "strength of belief" is only the intensity with which you resist questioning yourself. As soon as you are proud of a belief, as soon as you think it adds something to who you are, then you've made it a part of your ego."

I have two of Franken's books. Imagining him in the senate is more surreal than Arnie becoming governor.

I won't say entertainers should never seek office, because I voted for the Governator. But Al Franken just rubs me the wrong way. All the time. I don't know anything about his opponent, but I'm fairly certain I'd prefer the guy.

Let it be known that Norm Coleman is a total shmuck.

Al Franken is good enough. He's smart enough. And dog gone it, people like him.

Oh, definitely. I am fairly certain that the third party guy (Jesse Ventura's buddy) would be a better choice than Coleman or Franken. How could he be worse?

I want Republican filibuster numbers to be as secure as possible, so I'm rooting for Coleman. I have no idea whether he's a shmuck or not, and under the circumstances I don't even care.
