Gay marriage was legalized in California through judicial fiat.

People fear that teaching gay marriage will be mandated by judicial fiat in California without a constitutional prohibition in place.

I wouldn't have voted "yes" to propsition 8, but I don't think its unreasonable to fear a slippery slope given past judicial activism.
Yeah, see, all that judicial fiatism is what we in the United States like to call exercise of judicial authority.

What? Do I think supreme court justices have the job of interpreting law?

Yes. That's exactly what they do.

If you cannot define the thing you are railing against, you fail.

If you still do not understand that this proposition is not about teaching children about marriage, you fail.

If you imply that because children are moldable, them being taught about gay marriage will make them gay, you fail.

If you imply that teachers will teach their students to be gay, you fail.

Why should we deal with your ignorance?
its not dealing with it, but clearly we will be dealing with it later bc no one wants to talk about when people eventually appeal to have it taught in the schools.

are u guaranteeing me that no california citizen will file to the supreme courts like massachussets? is this your personal guarantee? lolz

i know its not about that right now, but that is like saying, we are going into iraq for WMD, and not to start a war. i mean, usehername stated my opinion perfectly. maybe im not as eloquent as her. but its a real concern.

Tyrannies infringe on individual rights. restricting gun ownership and broad censorship laws restrict individuual rights. The two are exactly the same, right?

And the reason I asked you to define "taught gay marriage" is because I don't know what was taught to children in Massachusetts that is under the umbrella of "taught gay marriage."

    Put up or shut up.

I am asking you to define what it was that was taught to children by the "gays of Massachusetts," the thing you've been arguing against for the entirety of this thread. Are you capable of doing that? Do you even know what it is that you've been against this whole time?

You seriously think mandating that something be taught in schools is a legitimate exercise of judicial authority? Do you seriously believe that, given such authority, the judiciary would only make far-reaching judgements that you agree with?

Why would they appeal to have it taught in school? What age group? You ever hear about SexEd?

Marriage isn't taught in schools in California.

    Because gay people are WMDs?

That's not obvious at all, unless you have some exit poll data that asked people why they voted for it specifically. I would've voted for it because it's simple DUH common sense. Sadly, common sense doesn't seem to be too common these days.
