Think about every one of your teachers for a moment. <think>

Done? Now, roughly what percentage of them would you want telling you about life (when you're brain is not physiologically mature enough and you aren't old enough to have life experience to think rationally about what all of these teachers say)?

What do you think the correlation is between teachers who want to convince all the kids to see things exactly the way they do, and the teachers that are likely to speak up? Probably very high.

If you don't want a Christian teacher teaching your kid about how there's a heaven and you can only get into it if you accept Jesus Christ as your personal saviour, you can apply the same reasoning to why lots of people don't want teachers teaching their kids about complex adult relationships.

Parenting is for parents; teachers teach.

    Neither did I.

Like I said, the massachussets gays did them in.

Yet a review of public records filed with the First District Court of Appeal in Boston shows these same organizations who claim our statement is a lie fought to make it true in Massachusetts. Specifically, they fought to ensure that gay marriage be taught in Massachusetts public schools, even over the objection of parents who sought an "opt out" for their children. Gay marriage was legalized by Massachusetts courts in 2003.

    OH... MY... GOODNESS.

Homosexuals are human beings and deserve every right that other human beings have, period.

Those that attempt to strip them of these rights are ignorant, unethical and of course, biased.

Yea, except they aren't teaching about marriage.

Why do we have two threads on the same subject, at the same time?

I'm not really up to speed on this Prop 8 stuff. So I don't really understand what "teaching gay marriage to children" means. "Here's how to have a gay wedding, kids, be sure the more attractive one of you wears the dress!" I doubt that.

So exactly what is it that was supposedly, in the estimation of those who supported the proposition, going to be taught to children? I fail to see how teaching kids in Civics class the facts of how marriage in CA works and who has the right to do it could be bad. What other facts of civic life would they like to ignore or gloss over?
