Were you guys not there for the bailout?

This is how they'll keep selling it to the populace long after everyone forgets.

Wow, that is the biggest stretch I've ever read. That was a statement of acknowledgment of the different spheres of human endeavor. That is closer to 1st-Century Establishment Clause than to anything you are trying to say.

Heh, read the passage. They ask Jesus, "Should we pay taxes?" His reply is "Yes, pay your taxes."

I hate unregulated capitalism, but I don't have any delusions about america.

It's been preverse for all of its history and nothing it does could ever be detached from that.

Our financial economy is obviously on thin ice, and guess who gets to pay for the hover-zambinos? Life isn't always a tea party to the people who work the fields.
    innit?

Well, we've experienced all the other stuff too. What's your point?

Again, does that say he would be for or against lower taxes? Not at all. You're reading between the lines, and there's nothing between the lines. If you were preaching about a Kingdom of God, and how one would become rich through Jesus and all that good stuff, don't you think some people might question whether or not you were an anarchist who didn't believe in territorial power or taxes or civil government? Come on now. Jesus never called for any type of government policy as a preacher, short of the same policies for individuals. You're just trying to tweak me now.

You're assuming that economic pressure always results in a natural equilibrium that creates the greatest benefits to society. This is false. Take a monopoly, for example.

And you're ignoring what happens when wealth is allowed to be hoarded over generations without restriction.

Monopolies are a result of government intervention.
"We grow up thinking that beliefs are something to be proud of, but they're really nothing but opinions one refuses to reconsider. Beliefs are easy. The stronger your beliefs are, the less open you are to growth and wisdom, because "strength of belief" is only the intensity with which you resist questioning yourself. As soon as you are proud of a belief, as soon as you think it adds something to who you are, then you've made it a part of your ego."

No you won't. You're already paying taxes.
