Yah, I say we split it between those states that net positive transfers from the federal and those that get negative transfers.

Would only have to make a few changes, if it was wanted, between the blue and red states (not so much in this election, but in general). Easy divide!

That's just about as meaningful as the stock market 'rally' increase the day before the house voted on the bailout the second time. At this point wall street is just blackmailing the rest of the country into allowing them to continue to generate fake wealth.

So who cares whether something is a 'socialist' agenda or not. And dropping the "S" word definately shouldn't be enough to convince anyone anything. People use buzzwords to avoid the fact that they don't know what they're talking about. It's a cop-out.
What makes a poor country poor?
"We grow up thinking that beliefs are something to be proud of, but they're really nothing but opinions one refuses to reconsider. Beliefs are easy. The stronger your beliefs are, the less open you are to growth and wisdom, because "strength of belief" is only the intensity with which you resist questioning yourself. As soon as you are proud of a belief, as soon as you think it adds something to who you are, then you've made it a part of your ego."

I love it when people ignore every bit of history on the workings of socialism and wealth redistribution. Because, when something doesn't work, that means we need to do it anyway and expect different results... Then again, the colonists did manage to break away from that pattern of INSANITY (by definition) by giving land ownership to those who worked for it instead of giving everyone the same amount of land so that they'd be unproductive as s***. It has been done and it has always failed.

Start redistributing my income, and I'll drop my income to the break-even point... or maybe below, so I get a net gain in cash flow for much less effort than I'm currently putting in. The country's GDP will suffer, but I won't.

And hey, get back to work. My kids need new shoes.

Hmm... I presume you already pay taxes...? Isn't that essentially the same thing?

I think THIS annoys me more than anything!! I'm the exact same way.. If you're just going to take my money away from me for all my efforts, I'm going to put less effort! I don't WANT someone mooching off of MY ambition!

The LACK of ambition that welfare and other programs create just gets SO under my skin!! America is set up to do as MUCH or as LITTLE as you care to do! But stop expecting hand outs if you're not willing to do the former!! :steam:

Well, if the current level of wealth redistribution is what we're talking about, I can live with that. I don't like it, but I can live with it. Let's stand pat and call it even.

But I gather that that's not exactly what the next administration has in mind.

I'd actually rather not pay taxes. At all.
