I'm surprised by the number of folks here who thought our world reputation was stellar.

Of course we know Americans want to be loved, bless your cotton socks.

But the fact is your friends love you and your enemies hate you.

And it has probably not escaped your attention that Militant Islamists have declared war on you and the rest of the West, and plan to destroy us.

So it is vital we hang together lest we hang separately.

Finally, a new and great president.

Do you love the United States for what it is and always has been, or for what it has the potential to became?

Of course. We know. Now all that's left is for them to piss us off to such a point that together, we as a free world, stop being politically correct and destroy Islam ideologically--or with plenty of nuclear bombs. Take your pick.

What kind of question is that? The US has always been a nation of "YES WE CAN". So I believe the answer to that is:

    Both!

Far more important than our world reputation is our solar system reputation, and the folks on Jupiter are laughing their asses off at us right now.

In general, parties belonging to the Socialist International regarded the United States as an obstacle to their own goals and aspirations. This attitude impacted the perceptions of Europeans, who became inclined to view the motivations, not just the wisdom, of any American action in a negative light.
Perhaps I am just ignorant, but I wonder who these parties are who belong to the Socialist International.

Our Labor party doesn't belong to the Socialist International.

Perhaps you are confusing Social Democratic Parties with Socialist Parties.

    >.> I concur with your surprise...I'm shocked, too...

...and, as a general term, so I'm not pointing fingers at anybody specifically- it's sad how blind some people are in this country about the nation in which they live. I'm not a political person, but I've got friends outside of the US who have shared sentiments of disliking how our nation has been run in the last decade-- we are all part of the same world, we share, essentially, the same space. It might not seem like what we do, as a country, matters to 'foreign' countries, but we've got shared history...

...or perhaps I really don't know what I'm talking about and am being too...what's the word..? *sighs*
