That's fine. I don't agree with that kind of voting. Still--it doesn't change the fact that PLENTY of McCain supporters are this way too. You made your retarded list of traits of an Obama supporter as if stupid voting only happens on one side.

Well, I would say that the people who made the effigy of Palin are "just being idiots" as well, but you made the choice to present them as the typical Obama supporter. That's bullshit.
If I made it sound like it applies to the majority, then sorry, but that's not what I was aiming at. My response to Placebo's comment about McCain supporters was to give direct and valid points about the other side that ALSO apply, and essentially eliminates the argument that either side is somehow pure (though I still argue one side has more of an affinity towards traits and actions I don't consider redeemable). If McCain supporters (broad brush or not) scare you, then you have equal or greater reason to be scared by Obama supporters (broad brush or not).

    Now squash it please.

I'll squash it when you stop being inflammatory. If you're stopping now, I'm squashing it now.

To be fair, the person who said that McCain supporters are scary should also not be inflammatory. That's an unfair generalization.

At least I don't make my points personal. If you TAKE what I say personally when it's not a direct attack on you, that's your choice. Otherwise, as Johny of the Fantastic 4 would say, "Flame on!"

When you make generalizations about an entire group of which I am a part--as I think is a fair reading of that post--then sure, I'll take it personally. I will also take it personally FOR someone else if I'm not part of the group and someone is making obviously offensively wrong generalizations about that group. You aren't contributing to the net good when you do that.

I agree with you that it would be nice for people to be educated, but I don't think social pressure is the way to go....especially if it's done by people who believe themselves to be "higher-functioning" and "less-biased". It sounds pretty elitist.

I'd rather be informed and considered elitist than be blind and considered humble. How else can we make it not OK to be uninformed? You can't force people to learn more about the political system. It doesn't happen by osmosis, either. If all you do is listen to the mainstream media (or to the part of it that mirrors your own biases), you really won't have the perspective that is necessary to make decisions.

I don't know exactly what he means by "Civilian Security Force," but it sounds pretty goddamn frightening.

Wow, dude. I'm surprised he's going public with this kind of thing. But of course I knew he was a totalitarian socialist at heart.
