Since many people lie and everybody dies, I guess the statement is unequivocally true - or at least god gets all the liars in the overall fell swoopage of his death plan for humanity.

It is a milestone in the psychological development of a small child when they discover they can lie.

It gives them the first taste of power over their parents, and as they grow it leads to the suspension of disbelief, the necessary condition for religion, art, fiction, movies and most of our cultural life. All based on the our discovery as a small child that we can lie.

And as lying is a direct threat to the power of the parent, naturally they tell us not to lie. Thank heavens we don't take any notice.

hebrews ch. 12 versus 16-17

There's a reason or lesson behind that, FWIW...

When Esau finally woke up to some extent and realized what he had forsaken, he made a half-hearted attempt to retrieve it. Just because he sought for it with tears does not indicate sincerity or true remorse. He found no place for repentance.

He bitterly regretted, but he did not repent. He selfishly wanted God’s blessings, but he did not want God. He had fully apostatized, and was forever outside the pale of God’s grace. He went on “sinning willfully after receiving the knowledge of the truth,” and there no longer remained any sacrifice to cover his sins (Heb. 10:26).

Ah these apostates, Islam has the right idea and mandates death for apostates.
