Pivotal to our understanding at such a time in our advancement as a species with the likes of Galileo, Einstein, Da Vinci, Mozart, Marie Curie and the list could go on with their expert knowledge. Were they placed here at such a time to advance our knowledge? Or simply a fluke that the areas they specialised in assisted us greatly? Why are we not all born with an aptitude to make our advancement as a species more advanced?

Looking at the modern man time line, could it be suggested that these genius men and women are abnormalities of such?

My thoughts are in a raw format so i welcome any comments to help me gain clarity. Thank you.

Because...the universe is not "fair". It's mostly casual.

Them being placed here to do something assumes a narrative about reality that doesn't seem to fit my observations.

There are variations in phenotype due to genetic variation and environmental factors -- there's a distribution of characteristics and some specific combinations of extremely rare traits combine to produce ideas that haven't been considered previously. It's just... well, statistics.

If we were all way smarter, then we would have different (probably better) technology and scientific narratives, but we'd still have some variance in traits and it would still take outliers to come up with paradigm-shifting-ideas.

What interests me is this:

We know of certain geniuses and talented figures who changed the ways we perceive reality, even if we don't realize their influences. Many of these people overcame tremendous odds at the time they lived. But what about those geniuses who didn't survive those odds? How many intelligent and capable men could have changed our reality, but didn't because of what was against them? (I'm not really being that serious, but it is interesting to think about)

I think it's a mixture of what FDG Evan and So It Goes all said.

There are people who are more gifted in certain areas due to genetics allowing for them to be more likely to accomplish something great in a certain area.

However.....

A ton of gifted people don't utilize their fullest potential for various reasons. Fear of failure, lack of opportunity, die young, etc.

Some people don't get the recognition they deserve. Sometimes its a matter of who you know. Other times its luck- just happening to be in the right place at the right time.

Alot of people make an impact on the world but that impact isn't as blatantly obvious. There's probably more of these people than the obvious names mentioned in the OP.
