Default Would you fight for your home town?

I'm watching the final episodes of the first season of Jericho and the citizens of the town, which exists in a world after nuclear explosions have plunged the US into an apocalyptic localism which not much in the way of law or peace, have been attacked by a neighbouring town.

They are rallying to the towns defence. My question is would you do this? I dont know that I would, if I could look after my immediate family's safety in some way other than defending to town I dont think I would.

It could be me and just not liking the town I've grown up in and issues unique to this part of the world like sectarianism and social class composition but I wonder if this is widespread. Is the US different?

I'm not american, but I would not fight for my *home*town. However, I would sure as hell fight for my new one! It is definitely worth defending.

I would if my family, friends, and I were invested in the local community and sought to stay there for a length of time and were happy with the way things were run (moreso than whomever the invading town was).

I wouldn't need to: the SAS is based a couple of miles away.

The risk is, though, that if something that threatens your hometown happens... Then the SAS will probably already be dead along with the rest of most of the armed forces.
Because if something threatens the whole of a town, it probably threatens the country as a whole. Whether it's an insurrection or an invasion.

I'd fight for my own survival, and if survival means the need for numbers, then fighting for a town seems like a good option.

I'm more inclined to fight against something that for something, I wonder if anyone else is like that?
