    Yes, agreed!!!

But, wait, can't one be a beautiful and exotic tree amongst a forest of other trees?

    Yes, quite possibly.

But your line of vision (perspective) is far better in the open, you don't have anyone else’s shadow projected onto you.... and you become more robust to the elements.

Besides, is there any difference between a solitary tree in a forest, and a solitary tree out in the open... it would seem better to be in the open.

Most thinking individuals eventually try to migrate back to the perimeter of the forest, I sought of see it like something out of "Edward Scissor hands" where you need to be pruned to achieve that imagined self.... a freaky tree becomes a work of art.

(Now I’m thinking about trees out in the open gnarled by the elements, distorted, haggard and struck too many times by lightening… still though… we’ll survive the forest fire… lol…).

Or you can be a really tall tree who "outgrows" your surrounding competitors.
