Lets say I'm on an island.

-Do I "own" this island?

Lets say one day a girl arrives on this island.
- Is it my island still? Is it our island? Do I have more of a right to this island than she does? If it is my island can I kick her off?

Lets say me and this girl have a child.
- Who owns this island now? None of us? All of us? Just me?

Let's say his children have children etc and now 5000 people live on this island.
- Who owns the island now? If anyone owns the island do they have the right to kick the ones that don't off the island?

Lets say instead of just me on this island in the first instance its a group of 1000 people.
- Who owns the island?

Lets say one day 1000 other people show up on this island
- Do the first group own the island? Do they all own the island now?

Isn't the world an "island"?

Personally I never really like the idea of people owning land, seriously why can't people share?

But realistically speaking, it depends on who claims ownership to it and how they protect their claims. If the man is in possesion of the island and he can use force against all those who would oppose him, then the islans is his along with everyone else present on the island. Or maybe the man is altruistic enough to allow partial ownership of the isalnd with another, so it becomes thier island, or they split ownership of the island 50/50 (through a social contract I imagine, although possesion via means of brute force can still apply).

Entitlement is a manmade idea for organizing politics(interest). If there is only one entity, what's "ownership" for?

If many, then I think its safe to say that the person(or group) who has the greatest power and wants the island is the person(or group) who owns the island.

We don't own anything, we just think we do.
