Why does my generation find it so hard to grow up?

Its grand talking about how growing up is over rated but objectively when emotional and even psychological maturation lags behind physical maturation it creates problems, individual and social ones, so you have people in their twenties who deliberately prey upon the naivete of younger peers for sex or whatever without ever being shocked out of it by their conscience seriously questioing is this how an adult ought to act?

There's entire communities now where peers and slightly older peers are more important than families or parents, that screws with any socialisation or maturation as it is but to suppose that a culture of child mindedness would improve that? I dont think so, someone has to be the adult, what happens when there isnt any and adulthood is taboo?
