No, it isn't. Brainwashing includes the application of force and usually involves manipulation.

Would a good parent say "many people think slavery is bad, but it's up to you to decide if black people are equal to white people"?

My point is that people teach their children what is true all the time. Your problem is not that people do this, but with what beliefs they do it with.

So again, your problem is not with how children are raised, but with the actual truth of religion.
