(I don't really care actually, it just makes me laugh when women who have sex without a condom are so surprised to find out that they're pregnant. I get a kick out of it.)

    Default My Values

Abstinence before Marriage A good idea to develop a relationship beyond sex.
Fidelity in Marriage A good way to maintain that relationship.
    Against Pornography Whatever.
Against Homosexual/Bisexual/Transgender behavior I don't even need to know about it. Keep it to yourself.
Patriotism Not too extreme, but I believe it is needed to pull our country out of the gutter. Some of those Bush bumper stickers are just awful.(Not that I think he is the greatest myself.)
Religious Freedom As with sexual orientation, keep it to yourself! Do not impose upon anyone else unless they are endangering other lives.
Right to Life: Against Abortion and Euthanasia I believe Abortion and Euthanasia is murder, but I don't think it should be illegal necessarily...
Against Addictive Drugs As long as no one else is being harmed.
    Against Alcohol Be Responsible.
    Against Gambling See Above.
Intolerant to any behavior that may destroy individuals, families, and our culture. Individuals should be able to choose to destroy themselves.
Discrimination is the wisdom of choosing between good and evil. I decide what is good and what is evil under different circumstances.. ???
    The Ends Justify the Means.Rarely.
Chazz: You're living in the past, Sammi. Me and the Woodland Fairies, we're living in the HERE and NOW.

Abstinence before Marriage-- not for me, but a personal choice. I do kind of think it's an unhealthy doctrine that promotes ignorance.

Fidelity in Marriage--well, yeah. Don't make a promise you aren't going to keep.

    Against Pornography--Nope.

Against Homosexual/Bisexual/Transgender behavior--"only if both chicks are hot." Not really. Seriously, I don't understand why anyone would object. Gay guys just make my odds better.

Patriotism-- "the last refuge of the scoundrel."

Religious Freedom-- as long as my freedom to not be religious is just as protected as someone else's right to practice a religion, then, yes, it's a necessary principle to uphold in a free society. But that doesn't mean you can dictate other people's behavior because it offends your religion. And God should definitely be kept out of politics. Fat chance, I know, but that's largely why we're in the mess we're in.

Right to Life: Against Abortion and Euthanasia-- I firmly support the right to die, so long as the person requests it. Anti-abortion types are just kooky.

Against Addictive Drugs-- heavy smoker, which is entirely my own fault. Personal responsibility.

    Against Alcohol-- hell no.

    Against Gambling--nope.

Intolerant to any behavior that may destroy individuals, families, and our
culture.-- only if that behavior "destroys" an individual that doesn't consent to it. Same thing with families. Intolerance in defense of "Our Culture" is pretty much the definition of fascism.

Discrimination is the wisdom of choosing between good and evil.-- This makes no sense.

The Ends Justify the Means.-- I believe it's important to evaluate an action in terms of its consequences, but all of its consequences, intentional and otherwise, need to be considered.

If you look into posting histories, you'll notice a lot of comments like the one you quoted, many of them are simply attention grabbers. The best way to handle them is to ignore them.

Most of those categories are difficult for me to settle on in all cases like fidelity in marriage. Generally speaking it seems a good idea not to lie and betray someone you profess to love, but if there is honesty and agreement between individuals, then that might work for them. It's just complicated. Abortion and Euthanasia can be destructive, but once again context is important.

The only one I voted for was religious freedom because that seems more of a societal issue than a personal one. In that I mean it creates the broad context in which the individual may find freedom. Freedom of conscience is important. Respecting people enough to allow them to value what they choose is the basis of my humanity. It is also why I support gays and lesbians. I see that in an equivalent light to religious freedom. It is support of personal freedom. It is about respecting the boundary that separates me from another person.

Thanks to this poll, I now know who to respect and who to pigeonhole as ignorant tyrants.

You couldn't figure that out without this poll?

It's actually been a fun poll. I now understand traditional values, and people's perspective on them much more clearly.
