They even picketed the Sago miner's funerals. Disgusting. Well, all except Jr. Toler's funeral, that is. They decided to move his funeral here to the National Guard Armory instead of the local church and the bunch couldn't get near him. Guarded by soldiers, police and everything. Nice.

Yup, that is the problem with religious extremists -- any negative reactions are just viewed as "persecution suffered as martyrs in the name of God."

You can't win. No matter what you do (short of permanently locking them up), it feeds the neurosis.

Uggh, it's 2am. I'm going to bed. What a lousy thread to end with for the night.

Yep. I have nothing but deep respect for people of faith that are good people (my family being an example), but it should also be said that religion is a cancer. Look around the world. Religion kills.

Sorry for the lousy thread, Jennifer. =/

ha, lousy for me, in my mood... but not bad for a thread in itself.

It was worth hearing that you actually called them. I've never met anyone before who has done that.

On a slightly random note, a member of an Australian comedy team called The Chaser did 'interview' one of their members in 2006 (you should've seen how they reacted when he started feigning homosexuality toward the bloke he was interviewing, who - I believe - was related to Phelps himself). As for the religion itself, it seems - to my Catholic eyes - to be founded on doctrines of hatred and prejudice. In other words, exactly what God punishes in The Bible, particularly during the Old Testament.
