Guns are welcome here; the MBTI cult is welcome here; and the hatred of losers is welcome here.

But pornography is not welcome here.

Guns kill vast numbers of people every year, as they are designed to do.
But pornography is designed to kill no one.

So what we have is the hatred of losers, the love of guns and a mindless cult.
But no pornography.
And yet I will bet my boots there is not one person here who hasn't enjoyed pornography.

We are plainly following a cultural imperative; we are being shoe-horned into a cultural template; and it is not my culture.

This foreign culture wants two things - it wants power and it wants to be loved - but you can have one or the other, but not both - yet they continue to ask, "Why do they hate us so?".

The obscenities that are permitted here act as an X-ray of the dominant culture, and answer the question.

Usually pornography consists of women mimicking arousal in order to arouse men.

So women are required to fake their deepest feelings in the service of men.

To fake your deepest feelings in public has an enormous toll on your authenticity.

So the first casualty of pornography is the authenticity of women.

Pornography is an effective way it is to neuter women.

One religion neuters women externally by clitoridectomy, but we neuter women internally by neutering their psyche. This has the advantage of leaving no external signs. And so gives us deniability.

This is similar to enhanced interrogation - torture - as it also leaves no visible signs and is deniable. So we say, quite openly, that we don't torture and we don't neuter women.

But men want neutered women, not for pleasure, but for power.

Pornography perfectly illustrates the power relationship between men and women.

Of course women internalise this power relationship themselves, just as slaves develop a slave mentality and a slave morality.

Whether a gun is held at your head or a phallus - the result is the same.

Both are obscene.

Violence is tolerated more than sexuality in our culture. You can show the most fucked up brutal images in a movie and keep it rated R, but if there is non-simulated sex involved it will be rated X.

Meh. It all means different things to different people. Common courtesy makes most of us aware of what is offensive to others and to use a skewed sense of humor with some regard for others.

The real people come from lives where there are common accepted standards of decency.

The real people bring their standards with them when they post, moderate, join and leave.

If they didn't, it wouldn't be a forum.

Victor's points are logically valid, but the problem is that he is the "cultural minority" here and will therefore not be taken seriously. Majority rules, sadly. The way to get around this is to influence others to join your position, which he is trying to do here.

Well, I certainly agree that tolerance of violence does more harm to our culture than tolerance of sexual pornography that is used for private use.

It does take some courage to take a stance against it, that's for sure.

I'm in mind of in the day when I was still trying to squeeze myself into that little box which is the Lutheran church. A discussion came up about explicit sex in films and I heard one lady say, "We just watch family type things like. . ." and then she named a bloody shoot-em-up western! Hee.
