People guilty of this - it isn't a valid argument. It never was, and it never will be. This is not my personal opinion, it is the truth. Stop doing it. Please, for the love of all that is good and right.

I am enjoying the carbon dating argument, though. Not that there is an argument, of course. Mycroft, I have no idea how you maintain your tone and at the same time maintain your cranial integrity. My head would have exploded pages ago.
    Prove it.

thank for demonstrating why "who has the burden of proof?" is so important!

Example: 2000 years ago, there was an invisible martian ice cream truck that telepathically (from mars) told people to eat more cheese.

now should the burden of proof lay on people to "prove" or to "disprove"?

The reason for not believing in evolution is simple: We find it unbearable that we're just a part of nature's schemes, that there's a grand pattern of perpetuation and change, and that we've been helpless participants for the majority of it. It sounds like a fiasco, given how long civilization has been evolving, and how we've been utilizing, acheiving mastery over nature's textures, doesn't it? So at this point of modernity -- which is based on reason and science, a fact often overlooked -- we're inured to, we'd rather believe that as mankind, we're somehow outside nature's rules, (though this idea has been going around since the earliest premodern states) and in that vein, it makes -- perhaps paradoxically, but easy to consider if you do not have a firm grip on rational questioning, as lack of good education combined with the modern state's propaganda mechanisms lead to -- infinitely more sense to us that there would rather be an omnipotent force that has consciously created us and granted us this priviledge of superiority.

The above may not make any sense, but I sure as hell enjoyed typing it. I haven't been here for some time, yo.
    Not really.

Costrin, we should create a logical double act and take it on the road.

    Prove I am.

    Btw, my ass can't type.

We're derailing this thread. It might deserve it, though.

    "might"

And it was said in a lighthearted tone that, admittedly, you can't hear through the computer. No offense intended.
