Default So this type thing....

What's the word on if we are born as a certain type (or even particular parts of the type) or does it form during early childhood or what?

If I remember right it's basically a framework you're born with that the rest of you get's built on psychologically. I does, however, take time to fully manifest itself which is why kids under 12 are not easily typed past the three letters that indicate their dominant function.

We really should put together a list of research that's been done to this end. From what I am aware, at least, Keirsey included information about temperaments and children in his book Please Understand Me II. Don't think he had anything specific about type in there, but I don't believe all 4 letters of someone's type is truly discernable until they're in mid-adolescence.
