So if E is minus and I is plus...

    Then this:
    Initiating: 1 ................ Receiving: 4
    Expressive: 2 .............. Contained: 3
    Gregarious: 2 .............. Intimate: 3
    Active: 1 ....................Reflective: 4
    Enthusiastic: 1 .............Quiet: 4

    Translates into this:
    Initiating/Receiving: 18
    Expressive/Contained: 6
    Gregarious/Intimate: 6
    Active/Reflective: 18
    Enthusiastic/Quiet: 18

    While this:
    Initiating: 4 ................ Receiving: 1
    Expressive: 5 .............. Contained: 0
    Gregarious: 3 .............. Intimate: 2
    Active: 5 ....................Reflective: 0
    Enthusiastic: 4 .............Quiet: 1

    Translates into this:
    Initiating/Receiving: -18
    Expressive/Contained: -30
    Gregarious/Intimate: -6
    Active/Reflective: -30
    Enthusiastic/Quiet: -18

All we are loosing here is resolution/accuracy.

Out of the 28 people who answered, only 5 didn't add up to a total of 5, and at least one of those on principle. I am curious about the rest of the algorithm.

Here is a sample Step II report, so that you can see how the facets are set up/scored... This is probably easier than my explanation. :-) The facets start on page 5.

    ESTP, leaning toward ESxP.

T/F scores were almost tied there. Interesting...

Decided to try this again and compare my current answers to my previous ones.

Edit: The following are my answers with the correct scoring method.

New result: ISFX. There appears to be a slight P lean though due to more P traits.

I tend to enjoy forced choice more, but it looks like it can skew how I feel about things by over-stating the importance of some traits and diminishing others. With this scoring system, I interestingly do not appear to have any out of preference traits (1 difference is not high enough), though my P/J is a bit messed up for that.

Also interesting... I have more clear P/J traits than T/F traits, yet the T/F dichotomy is more clear than P/J...

Here they are with the "incorrect" scoring method (what I originally posted):

Btw how is anyone to look at the pressure prompted quality as anything but procrastination?

Edit:. And whoop! After reading the whole thread, it looks like you are not supposed to treat them as mutually exclusive, but rather treat then separately and take the difference between the two. Not sure if doing it that way would affect the overall type that much, but I may fix my scores later.

I think this test is pretty accurate about how I feel about my own typing. I am strongly NF and slightly introverted. The main confusion I have had with typing is in my J and P preferences. When I took the 4 lettered test about 10 years ago I identified with INFJ easily because I think I have a slight preference for J. It is only when I learned about the cognitive functions that I got a bit confused because I identified with Fi over Fe, Ne over Ni, Si over Se and Te over Ti. So in terms of functions I am very much INFP but I still can be a bit more J than most INFPs. I usually find I like to read both INFJ and INFP descriptions if they are not functional based because I relate to both.
