Around a minute in or so she mentions a study that concluded 68% of the population are ambiverts and the rest are more extreme. Although there are no results cited I could believe that because E/I is determined by a chemical in the brain that is modified by socializing, Es have less and so need more - but it makes sense that we are all varying on the amount we need and that most people are somewhere along that scale and fewer at the extremes.

That's interesting and kinda makes sense!

I just thought I'd elaborate..While I can enjoy a pleasant interaction every now and then (I usually let others initiate and react accordingly), I don't like the idea of getting too involved in other people's lives, at least not at the moment. There needs to be a clear distinction between my own path, and those of others for me to feel grounded. For better or for worse, I like being able to come-and-go as I please, occasionally sharing my subjective experience with people that I value.

Introvert with some Ambivert functions. I thought I was going to get extravert.

Mind you the test is pretty simplistic so I'm just going to say I'm extravert.

Ambivert

As a fairly equanimous person, you display both introverted and extroverted characteristics. While on some days you like being surrounded by many people, on others you prefer to relax on your own and take some time out. As such, you can easily relate to both extremes on the personality spectrum, and have an easier time delving in and out of the internal and external worlds. This may lead to feelings of confusion as many times you feel like a “walking contradiction”, feeling one thing one moment, and another thing the next. Your friendship circle tends to consist of 3, 4, or 5 people. To summarize, these are some of your defining characteristics:
Equanimous
Enjoys socializing, but also being alone at times.
Behavioural decisions usually rely on “how one feels”, or the context of the situation.
Usually has a small group of friends.
Flexible.
Changeable.
Ability to appreciate both inner and outer worlds.
Easygoing.

Famous Ambiverts: George Carlin, John Lennon, Celine Dion, Rowan Atkinson, Angelina Jolie, Marilyn Monroe, Julian Assange, Richard Dawkins, Princess Diana, Johnny Depp, William Shakespeare, Jesus of Nazareth, Leonardo DiCaprio, Stephen Spielberg.

Famous Fictional Ambiverts: House, Doctor Who, Harry Potter, Patrick Jane (The Mentalist), Gandalf, Superman, Alice in Wonderland, Belle (Beauty and the Beast), Sherlock Holmes, Bruce Wayne (Batman), Emily Thorne (Revenge).

"You get the best of both worlds/Chill it out, take it slow/Then you rock out the show."

I find this song to be an apt description, if only for the above lines. And it is interesting seeing Miley pre-twerk phase. I used to love Hannah Montana, and it introduced the innuendo laden phrase "Business in the front, party in the back!" into my 9 year old lexicon.

74 out of 100. 60-80 is an extraverted ambivert. Sounds about right.

32 out of 100. An introvert with ambivert tendencies.

I chose "3" for the desert island question. I would enjoy the solitude for a while, but I'm pretty sure I'd eventually start talking to coconuts.

I'm not shy, I just don't like crowds or parties and have a difficult time feeling close to people

Ambivert. Makes sense to me. I don't dislike people, but I do consider myself a shy person. I don't have a lot of energy. Almost all of my friends left town for college so I don't go out much. Tbh I haven't made any new friends since high school because I'm bad at it. But I've been told by pretty much everyone I meet that I'm "the sweetest person ever" and "how can you be so nice when you work in customer service?". Also, no matter how enthused I am about public speaking (which is usually not at all), I am a master of appearing more charismatic than I actually feel in any given situation.

Edit: forgot to add this. Once in high school (I was much more shy back then) and again in a college communications class a couple years ago, I told the class I considered myself introverted, and they all argued with me and said that can't be true because I'm so peppy around people. Lol
