HAHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHA

HOW DID ANYONE GET THIS TEST DONE??!?!

A lot of the words that you're given mean pretty much the same thing, but are in a different word form to appeal to more people. So you've gotta weed them out. It was hard for me too, my votes went from like 4,600 to 420.

Why are these important to you, out of curiosity?

If one strives for holiness, one will possess all of the other values, because holiness results from exposure to and conformation to the heart of God. The fruit of the Spirit, for example, is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. All of the other values are mentioned in the Bible and originate from God because he is perfect and complete.

For #2 and #3, Grace and Truth together = Love.

Grace is unmerited favor. It is positive regard for the other person for their intrinsic self, regardless if the individual has “earned” it or “deserves” it. It is steadfastly seeing the person for who they really are. Truth is calling it forth and opposing anything harmful to them.

Grace says I love you and delight in you for who you uniquely are and all you were meant to be right now regardless of your flaws, struggles, and mistakes. Truth says I love you too much to leave you there. Both together are necessary for growth. Together they power regeneration and health.

If you’ve ever heard the saying people don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care, it is describing the dynamic combination of truth + grace. One without the other is false love. Love (grace) without truth is hypocrisy, and truth without love (grace) is brutality.

This song is about grace and its mechanism in love.

Nice! It works the same way for me with Balance, which I'm surprised wasn't top (I don't let anything trump my independence though). I feel that with enough balance in your life, you can do any of the other values quite well. (I'll elaborate when I'm not running out the door)

HOW DID ANYONE GET THIS TEST DONE??!?!

Traffic was horrific on the highways in Chicago. I used to pull out on the shoulder and drive by all the cars, then cut back in line. Get the picture?

You don't really think I followed the instructions to take the value test, do you? Lol. List your top values and forget dealing with all the voting nonsense. You'll get it done quickly.

Guess I don't value impartiality as much as I thought I did! Or I only value it because it aids in the pursuit of truth.

All it does is pit each word against the rest, but it was interesting to do that way because things did not align how they would have for me if I went by what I thought I though were most-least important.

I agree with EJCC, I don't get how "Love" is a value...? I like love, but it doesn't have the right nature to be a value.

Working on mine, starting the second phase. Though so far, I am prone to going through this with my Si-Te, keep falling into it. :alttongue: I like the part where we prune the unnecessary values, winnowing it down.

I literally had 150-200 words, I'd bet.
I just cleared them all, and then went through that huge list and picked my top 20 or so.
Exactly. And good idea!

I'm seeing interesting self-choices: Focus is a convergence of Thoroughness and Reflection. Self-Control is a convergence of Discipline and Independence. Hmm. :)

"Ready to go? You have chosen 20 values so you will be voting 190 times." Success! I can handle that.

"Work fairly quickly, going with your honest gut reaction, not the one that you think you should have." -- Cannot follow these instructions!

1. Love

"Love" for me is the umbrella term to indicate striving for what should be. It's wanting and acting on wanting the best, whatever that best may be. Love in its many forms is the deep human yearning, that which fires the spirit and gives us life. The synthesis of mind and soul and body.

2. Balance

Essential to all things. Give and take. Without balance, we have no physical life.

3. Passion

The fire inside each being that pushes us to be what we are and do what we do. Without passion, we have no soul life.

4. Connection

Recognition that our existence is intrinsically tied to millions of other existences, and that every one of our actions has implications for the infinity that lies beyond us.

5. Reverence

Respecting all things and their place in the great scheme of things, without an attitude of unjustified superiority. We are small parts in a big picture. The universe has danced long before we were conceived and will continue to dance long after we perish.

6. Appreciation

Recognition that the pleasures and opportunities present for us now may never exist again in all of eternity.

7. Compassion

The desire to help another being that is expressing discomfort. Being interconnected, helping another will ultimately make a better world for oneself.

8. Depth

Seeking truth, sincerity, reality.

9. Synergy

Coming together with another to create something greater than the self. Striving to create or achieve something more important or "better" than you - something that contains you but is more than you. It's through synergy that we can live forever - through passing our DNA to future generations, through recording our ideas, through engineering structures using the resources of the planet. Giving new life the opportunity to experience this world.

10. Growth

Always trying to be a better person, for everyone's sake.

11. Sacrifice

Being willing to diminish your ego for the good of another. I truly believe that if people were more self-sacrificing, we would have a better world.

12. Sensuality

Immersion in what is.

Personally, I think of all the values I've listed as facets of love, but love encompasses them all and describes the "attitude" for why I value all the other things. I see it as a value in that way - as a prioritization.
