no test available, but basically

Herbivore:
- cooperative
- slow paced
- generally mild mannered, but can be aggressive if attacked
- wants a simple, easy life
- motivated by comfort and pleasure
- enjoy harmony and peace and quiet
- relaxed, friendly and approachable
- have difficulty focusing intensely for long periods of time
- often freeze up or flee from adversity

Carnivore:
- intense
- competitive
- fast paced
- conscientious
- aggressive/passionate
- hierarchical
- action oriented
- goal oriented
- seek challenge and intense intellectual stimulation, without which they become easily bored

when you think herbivore, think: writer, artist, teacher, massage therapist, tea shop owner, pediatrician
when you think carnivore, think: entrepreneur, doctor, athlete, overachiever, dare devil. lawyer

anyone can be either, but there are some loose correlations
correlated with herbivore:
- women
- NFs
- 2s, 9s
- Self Preservation Instinct

correlated with carnivore:
- men
- NTs and SPs
- 3s, 8s
- Sexual Instinct (especially Sx/So)

Herbivores may struggle with: motivation, discipline, focus
Carnivores may struggle with: self control, patience, cooperation

by the way, I'm an herbivore. aggression, intensity and competitiveness do not come naturally to me at all. I can adopt these characteristics when to get something I want or to maintain my own safety survival or personal boundaries (all of which I do regularly) but my true nature is much more calm, slow paced and relaxation oriented.

famous carnivores:
- Steve Jobs
- Madonna
- Frank Sinatra
- 50 Cent
- Michael Jordan

famous herbivores
- John Denver
- Enya
- Vince Vaughn
- Dame Joan Sutherland
- JK Rowling

famous omnivores (traits of both carnivores and herbivores)
- Oprah Winfrey
- Richard Branson
- David Bowie
- Jane Goodall
- Kevin Rose

PS: this has absolutely nothing to do with your actual diet (80% of my diet is meat)

Doctors are carnivorous, or omnivores. Any body in health professions actually, particularly hospital based. You wouldn't be considered good at your job if you weren't fast thinking and able to deal with adversity. Stroll through any ED on a Saturday night and you'll understand what I mean.
Nice idea though.

actually, that was a mistake, I meant to put doctors in the carnivore category, I'll edit it. (it looks like you understood what I was trying to get at with this dichotomy)

The idea is interesting, everything seems right, but I do believe that discipline and self-control are in the same bag of synonyms. Be more specific in the words.

Oops, I answered the poll wrong. Should have read the thread first. I'm about 50/50% going by dietary habits. Personality wise, I'm more herbivore.
Bold = very true of me
Italic = somewhat true of me

Herbivore:
- cooperative
- slow paced
- generally mild mannered, but can be aggressive if attacked
- wants a simple, easy life

- relaxed, friendly and approachable

Carnivore:

I'm rather strangely split when it comes to these categories.... maybe because I'm an NT with the self-preservation instinct. But then with these extremes a lot of us are probably omnivorous ;)

my carnivorous side is pretty well developed, but it certainly isn't natural and being intense, competitive, fast paced and conscientious wear me out quickly

I LOVE meat. I can't imagine living without it. That's all I know. As far as that being related to my personality traits, I have no idea. I like vegetables too so I guess I like both but I'm more likely to choose something meaty to eat than veggie-ish. If I HAD to choose one or the other I'd pick meat.

it's not about your diet lol (mine is like 95% meat and I have an herbivore personality lol)
personally you seem about 50/50 to me.
- half of you being lazy, low key, wanting to sit around all day
and the other half
- intensity junky, thrill seeker, passionate love maker
ISTPs as a whole tend to exhibit traits of both (as opposed to ESTPs who are pretty carnivorous)

I eat meat constantly - I can't live without my meat. But I'm an NF, which seemed a little off. Interesting theory!

I definitely answered this poll too quickly. I thought you were talking about meat eater vs. vegetarian.

Given what the question was really about, I'd say I'm mostly a herbivore. I associate with certain traits of the carnivore, however.

Herbivore (8/9):
- cooperative
- slow paced
- generally mild mannered, but can be aggressive if attacked
- wants a simple, easy life
- motivated by comfort and pleasure
- enjoy harmony and peace and quiet
- relaxed, friendly and approachable
- have difficulty focusing intensely for long periods of time
- often freeze up or flee from adversity

Carnivore (4/9):
- intense
- competitive
- fast paced
- conscientious
- aggressive/passionate
- hierarchical
- action oriented
- goal oriented
- seek challenge and intense intellectual stimulation, without which they become easily bored
