    That test sucks.

The reality is that I ranked in the 90s based on the concept authors tests in the book.

But here's something interesting: How can two people that are so different both be High Self-Monitoring?

Two people may appeal to very different people.

Well either the test is wrong... or people really share more similarities than differences despite how hard we try to differentiate self from others.

I love cheese! Thanks Haight for adding it!

You and whatever, for example, who both score high on that test, may be altering your behaviors to match those you want to blend in with, but the people you are targeting are different, thus you will be very different in behavior.

    Understood.

My answer would be that a few MBTI types are High Self-Monitoring, on average. However, the different types have very different motives for mirroring others.

I responded positively to those behaviors that IMO are about socializing (for example, going with the flow and being amiable around others even when I'm not necessarily feeling that way), but negatively to those those behaviors that IMO are more about being the center of attention* (for example, charades, wanting to be an entertainer). That put me in the mid-range.

    * [Edit: Just my own way of creating an artificial distinction. I feel like I could stretch enough to enjoy being on a stage, but I just haven't sought those experiences thus far and so they remain uncomfortable for me to some degree.]

    60. Neither a high nor low self-monitor, how lovely.

Your score is 51, on a scale of 0 (low self-monitor) to 100 (high self-monitor). You are neither a high nor low self-monitor.
