Ah, personality disorders.
Watch out! He's more than 2 standard deviations from the norm! HES DANGEROUSLY NOT NORMAL!
God I hate Psychology. It's taking something that is at its very CORE subjective and trying to make it objective. You can't objectify feelings, no matter what you do. They can't be numerical."Can you set me free from this dark inner world? Save me now, last beats in the soul.."

The answer to the thread title, in a nutshell, is:
Schizoids don't really tend to care (or even perceive) what people think of them and are reclusive generally to preserve their own autonomy.
Avoidants care deeply what others think of them, are hypersensitive to the perceptions of others, and are reclusive to avoid strong feelings of shame and embarrassment and inadequacy while around others."Hey Capa -- We're only stardust." ~ "Sunshine"
“Pleasure to me is wonder—the unexplored, the unexpected, the thing that is hidden and the changeless thing that lurks behind superficial mutability. To trace the remote in the immediate; the eternal in the ephemeral; the past in the present; the infinite in the finite; these are to me the springs of delight and beauty.” ~ H.P. Lovecraft
