But I do agree that mentions and tag lists are kind of redundant, at least with OPs. I guess the difference is that user tags are for the OP and mentions are for responses.
Ahh yeah I guess I can see that.

Yes. It's sort of an experiment. Maybe we can try it and see how it works and if we like it, we can keep it. If we don't, we can turn it off.

Hashtags, if done correctly, could be something like a keyword for a paper or report, or those hyperlinks that appear on wiki pages. The page on preparing a resume might mention using an appropriate font, and the word "font" will be a hyperlink taking you to the page on fonts. Here, it would take you to a list of all posts/threads with the same "keyword", if I understand correctly.

For this to be useful, however, we need to use the hashtags a bit more judiciously than I've seen so far. People seem to be creating hashtags willy-nilly with little real long-term value in helping to link or organize content.

Will there be a graveyard for hashtags???
I've been called a criminal, a terrorist, and a threat to the known universe. But everything you were told is a lie. The truth is, they've taken our freedom, our home, and our future. The time has come for all humanity to take a stand...

The only real difference is that he actually likes you guys and cares about your experience.
