to all the dissenters:give it a chance if you don't like it youleave,or if no one likes it they can go back to the old way. though I suspect the 90% of the people vehemently against it are part of the problem

By jove, I think Haight might have quadrupled his post count in the last two weeks...

Which means that you people are annoying me.

It also means that I am behind in my work. Which is also annoying.

    Stop annoying me!

Also, for the record, the tiers above ad hominem are things I think are typical for Fs to use. Arguing and rhetoric seems to be a pass time that mostly Ts here specialise in, as such - though Fs certainly do learn to join in and can join in - but addressing tone and presenting a heartfelt counter argument without 'logical evidence' is a cliche F thing to do. And tbh, addressing tone on an a TypeC forum is kind of...relevant, I feel, though it might warrant a thread split to address the topic from a more value-based perspective as well. So I do hope the rules will just apply to the first and second tier, for that reason.
I don't think the third and fourth should be eliminated. Nor do I think they should come at the expense of the top of the pyramid.

Actually, this annoys me a great deal. If someone knows something i don't, I actually want to know that thing. If you're refusing to tell me and calling me an idiot for not knowing that thing, what am I suppose to do? Bow down before your superior knowledge? Instead, the conclusion I draw from that attitude is that someone doesn't actually know what they are talking about, and are putting on an act. It may not be correct, but given the data at my disposal, it's not an unreasonable hypothesis.
[Trump's] rhetoric is not an abuse of power. In the same way that it's also not against the law to do a backflip off of the roof of your house onto your concrete driveway. It's just mind-numbingly stupid and, to say the least, counterproductive. - Bush did 9-11

so can someone tell me how much of a change i'm going to experience with all this?

i mean have there been a lot of recent threads where people would've been infracted or threadbanned?
There can’t be any large-scale revolution until there’s a personal revolution, on an individual level. It’s got to happen inside first.

I thought uumlau seems to say pretty clearly that the goal is to share knowledge, telling you what you don't know and helping you to see things better.
He also seemed to say earlier in this thread that it's unwise to take an attitude that you're always right, as that would limit the expansion of knowledge.

Not "a lot of threads", that's for sure, but it only takes one or two to turn into a flame war that then requires significant mod intervention. Ideally, it wouldn't have resulted in a lot of infractions/bans, but rather would have prevented certain threads from escalating into flame wars in the first place, with a couple of gentle warnings to keep things civil. As for how things in the future will live up to that ideal, we'll have to wait and see. It will likely take some time to learn how best to live up to that ideal, hence the transition period where we'll largely rely on warnings.
An argument is two people sharing their ignorance.

A discussion is two people sharing their understanding, even when they disagree.

Heck, I've gone from zero chance he will fix INTPc (by that I mean empower one of the mods to fix it) to .00001%

Hmm. I see. A new strategy may be in order.

    ON TOPIC>>

Thread was TL:dR, opening post was vague. Did the "safe thread" proposition pass or no? I've got no dog in this fight, just curious.

Think of the OP as a heads-up as what's coming down the pipeline, the direction we're (pretty much already) taking the moderation style, and what's going to be codified on the brand spankin' new official FAQ when it arrives.

Some of the other specific ideas, such as 'safe spaces' and all, will also be evaluated and visited after the FAQ's off our plate. No official decisions have been made on those.
