We're looking at putting in place a mentoring option for newbs to the site, the idea is once they've shown they want to stick around at 25-50 posts or so they'd be welcome to contact their chosen forum member from a list of volunteers (ideally the same MBTI) who would be there for any type of questions ranging from basic foruming to debates on how awesome the madmin team is. Their mentor would be able to advocate for them, if needed, and give advice based on their experience of how things run around here. Once they are on their feet and contributing, it's on to the next newb.
A discussion board will only be as good as the discussions being generated so it's great when newbs join, stick around and become a contributing regular, their initial interaction can make a big difference as to whether or not they stay.
Volunteers who seek to create a minion newb army aren't concerning to me personally, but members who have been mod-slapped with an infraction in the past 6 months would not be ideal mentors.
If you think you'd be up for this post so here.
