Default DO NOT BE ALARMED: Change to the rep system

    We're revamping the Reputation System.

Why? Because when the reputation system was instituted we had no clue how successful it was going to be and how fast members would zoom to the top of the pops. Currently the disparity between those with more reputation power and those without is intimidating. We seek to make the rep system more equitable.

    Some quick FAQs:

Q: Will points be reset to zero?
A: As yet undecided. But don't be surprised if they are. Like hair, grass, and debt the points will grow back.

Q: Will users lose their current reputation comments?
A: If points are reset to zero, probably will. If there's strong sentimental value attached to comments, I suggest you copy and paste to notepad ASAP. If there is a way to reset to zero and still save comments we'll try to work it out.

Q: What are the point levels?
A: We think it would be a nice surprise not to reveal what the new categories are.

Q: Will the reputation system be changed again?
    A: Maybe.

We would like your input for the names of the new user reputation levels.

    Change is good.

To the idea of changes to the point levels.. *shrugs* I'd have mine hidden (and did for a little while) if it wasn't for the pain in the ass fact I have to unhide it to view rep comments. I got tired of hiding/unhiding them.

As for losing rep comments, I'd like to keep them but I think one of the main issue for me would be that I use them every now and then to quickly locate past posts I've made on certain subjects.

I've enjoyed starting my day feeling the warm fuzzies from positive strokes but I've done without that most of my life and can continue on the same way. Enjoy doing your thing.

What are you talking about? It's still the same people giving and receiving rep points. Sheesh. You'll get rep points for the same stuff you got the points for before.

No need to get paranoid and post in three separate threads about it.

The only thing that would change is the amount of points needed. Beyond that it's all kinda pointless to change anything really.

You'll still get people who rocket to the top rep wise, and still get people who are somehow hurt by the fact they've been around longer or posted more and have a lower rep.
