So the answer is no, then. That's disappointing, but not surprising.

Since you don't ever insult anyone Jeffster, I wouldn't worry about it if I were you.
I have never witnessed any major problem like they're describing... have you?
I guess it happens when I'm not there.

Use common sense. If you don't have any, ask a friend.
Vent seems to run quite well without any (overt, present) modding. In fact there's less drama in there than on the board (probably because there's less people) but generally the freewheeling atmosphere in there seems to work. This thread, imo, wasn't really necessary. I don't say that in an assy way, but it seems more likely to cause drams than deal with actual, existing drams (of which there is very little, if any, in Vent currently).

I'm not worried about my own behavior. I'm trying to determine specifically what will be treated seriously if reported, since I have been told in the past by an admin to "get over it" when I reported what I thought was rule-violating behavior, and I received an "infraction" for typing things that are tame compared to some of things people have said to me in the Vent chat, so I was trying to get a real answer as to whether I should bother to do what the OP says about reporting or whether it would be dismissed as "not serious."

The way I've found that rules tend to work is... don't say anything anything that might potentially offend someone who dislikes you enough to report you for it, and if you do offend someone, apologize.

Oh, and don't report behavior unless it's actual spamming by a spambot. It just makes you look petty. Pretty much, it's "don't bother/report anyone, and they probably won't bother/report you." Same attitude I use towards most of what goes on in my real life neighborhood.

Complaining about behavior tends to put you on people's "radar," and they'll start looking for flaws in yours.

Hmm. I can see why you would be confused as to the specifics.

Discretion is a key component of enforcing rules. Rules alone, without discretion, are game-able. Easily manipulated. Discretion alone is arbitrary. So, by necessity, it helps to make the rules rather general and non-specific, while still reinforcing certain precepts and guidelines.
