I've noticed a trend among a few INJs, that they seem to be... tired. Not exactly physically, but more mentally and emotionally. I've heard that under too much stress, INJs are the type of people who will crawl into bed and try to stay there as long as possible.

Maybe INTJ's low tolerances for inefficiency is because they tire easily. That INJs seem to have that 'closeminded certitude' because having to wade through possible answers that likely aren't right anyway would take so much energy. I don't know. What other types tire easily?

It seems like a point... to see which types seem to have the most energy, and which have the least. I don't know if this is coherent... I'm so damn tired.

I know that I have a low metabolism, and I waste my energy by worrying too much.

I'm going to bed.

Hmm, can see the INJ pattern here so far...

I can relate, too much introspection without solutions can be draining, I usually try to counter this by getting active socially and surrounding myself with those whose company I value, it helps me to stop thinking and improves my mood pretty quickly.

If I didn’t do this I could see myself hibernating.

Yes, I can see what you are saying. I analyse things 24/7, which I can't voluntarily stop, and these can be tiring. Sometimes I think of something that I don't even know...it can be pretty annoying at times. When I feel I am tired, I go to book stores or libraries. Socialising drains my energy even more, as I have to socialise with "right" people. (Yeah, that sounds arrogant, but that's what I am.)

Answer: Yes.

I have felt this at many times in my life, but not quite as much now.

I think that introverts in gereral seem to tire out more easily.

Day to day social interaction such as interacting with co-workers, class mates, customers, friends, family, room mates, store clerks, etc., uses up more mental energy for introverts than extroverts.

I also feel like I have to spend a lot of mental energy "translating" my thoughts into something other people would understand. The N stuff is too abstract for most people to get. And most people don't seem to get the T stuff either, too something, I'm not sure what. Too intellectual? Too technical? By most people, I mean most people in real life, there are lots of Ts here so I can find more people who understand.

I think people with dominant Ni need to spend a fair amount of time day dreaming in order to rechange. At least it does for me. However, society often looks down on people who day dream too much and so there is pressure to cut down on it. People will sometimes say really negative things like "lost in her own fantasy world" and imply that it is not mentally healthy to spend "too much" time day dreaming. Giving into that pressure makes things worse.

Roleplaying games, another good way to make Ni happy are looked down upon by many people as well. There is pressure to "grow up" and leave pretend games behind.

For most of my life, I didn't have a good idea of how to relax and re-energize. That is because most people give advice for what works for them, but it doesn't necessarily work for people with other types. What an ESFP uses to help her feel renewed and renergized is not always the same as what helps an INTJ feel renewed and relaxed.

Another issue for me, is that I have often felt pressure to act against type. Giving into that and acting against type uses up huge amounts of mental energy. Not giving in uses less energy, but having that pressure can wear me out to.

Only if it involves social stuff or constantly being "on your game." It seems like after an hour of going out and being around people, I'm freakin' exhausted. Also, when people invade "my" environment, I get exhausted too.

But I could stay up all night having a great conversation or playing a game that I'm really into and be fine.

Strange... but yes. I guess I'm one of these people. Though it could also be because I'm having some kind of "depression"... as I see it myself, I have for little more than a year felt "cut off" from my source of energy (that's also for about as long as I've been INJ), and that from now on I have to get it elsewhere. I can't tolerate much stress and I have to be careful with myself.

It's funny because even though I'm tired in this sense, I have a lot of trouble getting to sleep.

I wonder if we have any other types that would like to weigh in on this?

What type were you before?

I have heard some extorverts say they became more wirthdrawn during depression. Maybe INJ is not your real type, but just a reflection of depression.

Yes. I believe Bilbo always put it best for me in Lord of the Rings: "Why, I feel all thin, sort of stretched, if you know what I mean: like butter that has been scraped over too much bread." That is the kind of tired I feel more often than not.

I am, most definitely one of these: under too much stress, INJs are the type of people who will crawl into bed and try to stay there as long as possible.

Same here, starting around the age of 6 or so.

Yeah, this misunderstanding is killer. People can tell you're burnt out/tired/etc, but their attempts to solve it actually make it worse for you, because they have no clue that you don't operate in the same manner as they do.

I was INTP some five years ago, so it's not the case... I've always been Introverted Intuiting (though I'm even more introverted now than before).

Interesting observation. I still think it's just a part of our wiring though.

What helped me deal with the drain that is the world outside my head, was a balanced diet consumed on a regular basis and exercise a few times a week. I use to forget to eat. I am much better able to function when I'm as healthy as possible.

This is why I wanted input from other types...

I may need to try this, if I can manage to drag myself out of bed one day.

Thinking back to what 01011010 said...

Maybe INJs are so tired because they're bad at taking care of themselves? Inferior Se and all. Forgetting to eat and exercise for long enough will fuck with your head.
