Default What did MBTI give you?

Can you say what did MBTI give you as a personality? Can you say how did it help you to better understand yourself, better understand others, or to live a happier life?
Be really honest, if MBTI didn't give you anything say it!

It gave me a way of identifying and understanding traits in myself and in others. I use it as a way to better understand the actions of the people around me, why they might say one thing versus another, and as a way to control my emotions; in a weird sort of way it allows me to recognize that someone isn't neccesarily bossing me around, rather they're just speaking in a way that they would like to be spoken to. I personally may find it offensive and may over react if someone TELLS me to do something, but if I take a moment to step back and look at their personality, I can understand why they phrase something in a way that they do, thus, avoiding me getting annoyed or angry about nothing.

Also it gave me an obsession.

The MBTI has done nothing for me in terms of personal self-understanding and spiritual growth. That was the Enneagram.

Yeah pretty much this. MBTI just confirms a lot of what I already know and isn't much more than a bunch of fun. Enneagram made me look more closely at my motivations and what drives me, which is much more useful.

It made me feel like less of a freak. It was comforting that there are other people like me and that someone had codified it. Even though INTJs are usually said to be only 1%-2% of the population, it made me feel more normal.

Biggest ever turning point in life so far. This was not directly through use of the theory but it was related. That's pretty much what MBTI gave me, not that that isn't enough on its own; It doesn't really help me understand others much better, though a little bit maybe on a theoretical level. It's also a nice opportunity to speak to others about psychology through this relatively easy to understand theory.

Enneagram helps understand motivations a lot more, though. Helps more in self-improvement.
