Ni-dom does the same but in a more passive/reactive manner...it gathers data already available in the background (or whatever comes in its way) but doesn't try to elicit further data thru some forced reaction...it doesn't try to force the external object to react...
So Ni kind of takes one piece of info that happened to fall its way and maximizes what it can figure out from that one piece? This makes me think of the story of the blind mice that each touch only one body part of an elephant. When they all meet up they finally figure out they were touching an elephant. If Ni is so "ready" to intuit the big picture, when it does get one more piece of info, it's a big help, it could be just the missing piece that was needed?
