This describes type 2 in enneagram very well. Twos neeeeeed to take care of others and create dependencies on themselves, otherwise they do not exist. Type 2 is quite frequent among dominant feeling types in MBTI (ESFJ, ENFJ, INFP, ISFP, etc.) and sometimes can be found among Fe/Fi auxiliary types like INFJ and ENFP.

SFJs tend to take care of people by providing practical assistance; NFJs tend to take care of people by guiding them down the most beneficial paths. FPs tend to take care of people by providing emotional support.

I do think that most SFJs in particular derive some degree of joy from actively caring for others.

And NTs take care of others by turning them into mindless zombies and make them abide to their will :D

ISFJ type 2 sp/sx would be my best guess for a directly intervening type helper.

ENFJ type 4 sx/sp would be my best guess for a therapeutic type caregiver.
