MBTI subtypes

an interesting concept i found on another site (credit goes to childofheaven).

1. take the cognitive function test, and copy the functions

I.E.

2. then list your functions in order of their usage, and split them between the first four and the last four.

I.E.

3. copy & paste the list of possible results:
ESFJ=Fe, Si, Ne, Ti
ESFP=Se, Fi, Te, Ni
ENTP=Ne, Ti, Fe, Si
ENTJ=Te, Ni, Se, Fi
ENFJ=Fe, Ni, Se, Ti
ENFP=Ne, Fi, Te, Si
ISTJ=Si, Te, Fi, Ne
ISTP=Ti, Se, Ni, Fe
ESTP=Se, Ti, Fe, Ni
ESTJ=Te, Si, Ne Fi
INTJ=Ni, Te, Fi, Se
INTP=Ti, Ne, Si, Fe
INFP=Fi, Ne, Si, Te
ISFJ=Si, Fe, Ti, Ne
ISFP=Fi, Se, Ni, Te
INFJ=Ni, Fe, Ti, Se

4. remove the types whose dominant function is in your last 4, accordingly:
Fe: ENFJ, ESFJ
Fi: INFP, ISFP
Te: ENTJ, ESTJ
Ti: INTP, ISTP
Se: ESFP, ESTP
Si: ISFJ, ISTJ
Ne: ENTP, ENFP
Ni: INFJ, INTJ

I.E

5. do the same with those whose secondary function is in your last 4:
Fe: ISFJ, INFJ
Fi: ENFP, ESFP
Te: ISTJ, INTJ
Ti: ENTP, ESTP
Se: ISTP, ISFP
Si: ESFJ, ESTJ
Ne: INTP, INFP
Ni: ENTJ, ENFJ

I.E

6. for each, list which functions are missing from your top 4 functions.

I.E.

7. if any of them have all of your top 4 functions missing, remove them.

8. group the remaining types according to the missing functions:

I.E

9A. now use the order to determine which within each group fits you better and jump to step 13, or for the more analytically oriented, follow 9B to 12 and only then go to 13.

9B-12

13. the one which isn't your type, or alternatively has the highest difference (marking the highest inconsistency) is your subtype.

I.E.

Isn't INFJ kind of obvious from the function order Ti, Ne, Ni, Fe, Te, Se, Fi, Si? Why make it look like calculus?

Which makes me an INFP with an INFJ alter-ego, which apparently means I will intuitively feel the shit out of you.

Hmm, how do you know you don't score as an INFJ subtype purely because of your obsession with them?

All it looks like you do is take the test, and then you take your standard type from the score (your highest to form a type would be NeTi, aka ENTP), and then you'll notice the Ni is the second highest possible base function aside from Ti (which you have to disclude for the sake of the way you're doing things, but what if someone is ENTP-INTP? Are you saying that wouldn't be possible?). Then after Ni, you'd have to take from either Fe or Te to form the second type, and with Fe being slightly higher you'd get ENTP-INFJ.

So I guess ISFP-INFJ it is...? Even though Fe is pretty low, and I use Te way more IRL than Fe for obvious reasons. Especially when working. I'd have to say using this system I'd probably be ISFP-INTJ.

So, that would make me... INFP-INTP? I really don't know what to do with the tied functions, so I just threw Te in the top four because it worked a little better...

I get function order of: Fi Ne Ti Si Ni Te Fe Se

Which suggests INFP as main type.

I think I'm INTP, not INFP.

So maybe INTP with INFP subtype?

I had a novel idea, and took the 2 CF quizzes and averaged the results. It looks exactly like INTP and INTJ combined. Specifically, INTJ within INTP. So I can only conclude I am in fact INTX, INTP dominant.

Either that or your answers were biased/not truely relating to a the intended cognative function but rather from another cognative function.

Well these things can't be that comprehensive anyway. I was just thinking today I am less strong on the Te, because I have a hard time with prioritizing at work and time management. Other than that though I think it's pretty accurate.

ugh i started doing this based on your formula but...seems like a lot of necessary work (oh right you're a ti person)

anyway...my top 4 in order are
ne
fi
ni
fe

so i'm just going to assume that makes me an infjish enfp

Wowwww the crazy organizational analytical stuff killed me.

But I myself have been interested in subtypes, and have the following results:

In order, my cognitive functions are this

Ni, Fe, Ti, Se
Fi, Ne, Te, Si

So I'm almost a perfect INFJ, but I think I have a higher-than-average command of my Tert function, Introverted Thinking. I also seem to have a much more conscious relationship with my Inferior Extraverted Sensing than usual (I still hate the little b@$+@rd at times, but I at least know when it's the culprit. It's almost like it has a more Tertiary than Inferior relationship to my other functions.)

I skipped some of the last steps, but I figured out that my subtype is probably ISTP.

This makes perfect sense, considering that I feel like I relate a *lot* to ISTP characters, yet at the same time envy that I can't be more like them. =/ A lot of the characters I come up with have ISTP tendencies, but I then put them through the NiFe ringer (sp?) and have them develop their hidden INFJ. Or I'll have characters who are more INFJ-ish, but have been through some sort of trauma or have some emotional conflict that forces them to adopt a more ISTP mindset in order to cope.

This partly resonates with the fact that I've been through Ni-Ti loops for extended periods in my adolescence, and the fact that growing up knowing that I had Aspergers caused me to 'give up' on developing my Ni and Fe and focus more on my Ti and Se, supposedly because they were the 'strong suits' of those with Aspergers. The end result, I ended up realizing my true strengths when I went to college, and realizing that just because I supposedly have Aspergers doesn't mean that I automatically 'suck' at empathizing with others and dealing with abstract metaphors. ;3

Summary Analysis of Profile
By focusing on the strongest configuration of cognitive processes, your pattern of responses most closely matches individuals of this type: INTP

Lead (Dominant) Process
Introverted Thinking (Ti): Gaining leverage (influence) using a framework. Detaching to study a situation from different angles and fit it to a theory, framework or principle. Checking for accuracy. Using leverage to solve the problem.

Support (Auxilliary) Process
Extraverted Intuiting (Ne): Exploring the emerging patterns. Wondering about patterns of interaction across various situations. Checking what hypotheses and meanings fit best. Trusting what emerges as you shift a situation’s dynamics.

If these cognitive processes don't fit well then consider these types: ENTP, or ISTP

Two functions that are more defined than any other, and the rest all around similar strengths. According to the test that is. In truth my Si and Fe should be much stonger, but I have an issue with some of the questions that are meant to measure my Si and Fe.

Making any effort into using this data to try and find out something other than me being clearly INTP absolutely futile.

My most recent cognitive function results: Fi=Si=Ti>Te=Fe>Ne>Ni>Se

Which I guess makes me an ISTJ-ish INFP....
