What counts as abstract masturbation? Getting excited over ideas?

Getting turned on by ideas? Jacking off to ink blobs? Having colourful and shapeless objects coming out of your... OK I'll stop.

Of course not. It's impossible to define "intelligence" in a way that does not skew toward a certain set of tendencies, and overlook another, without coming to some sort of tautology.

In other words, "these people are smart because they meet these standards. These standards measure intelligence because they describe what smart people do. Smart people do these things because they're intelligent."

I have a strong suspicion that the maker of that blog had this in mind when he wrote it: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/6057734.stm

I must strongly remind him that this hasn't happened just yet....
'One of (Lucas) Cranach's masterpieces, discussed by (Joseph) Koerner, is in it's self-referentiality the perfect expression of left-hemisphere emptiness and a precursor of post-modernism. There is no longer anything to point to beyond, nothing Other, so it points pointlessly to itself.' - Iain McGilChrist

Suppose a tree fell down, Pooh, when we were underneath it?"
"Suppose it didn't," said Pooh, after careful thought.
    Piglet was comforted by this.

To be fair abstract masturbation was a Wolfy quote.

    It's a great phrase.

People seem to be making a distinction between individuals and their type. Like, perhaps type will influence what you perceive and how you think and feel but it's not the real you. And the real you is actually kind of dumb. It exists independent of the benefits a particular type can confer.

Have you considered the possibility that @The Great One is just an ass?

Anyway Ive actually suspected him of being an especially annoying ESxP ANYWAY.

Furthermore John F. Kennedy and F. Scott Fitzgerald were both smarter than @The Great One and they were both xSTPs. Don't forget Ernest Hemingway.

In fact, can we just change the title of this thread to "let's laugh at @The Great One"?
