...But yes, I suspect that the math aspect makes it hard to use for typing, because if one isn't comfortable with the math, one will go for the least mathematical explanation, regardless of type.

:yes: and those that are good at math will apply math where it doesnt really belong in an attempt to make up in other areas they are weaker in. Playing devils advocate, not knocking you.

This happens far less often than the reverse: failing to apply math (correctly) when it is advisable and even necessary. See, for example:
