Music from the heavens, a glorious light shining on a particular set of four letters, and a mysterious slap on the face that says "this is your type, keep it!"

Okay, it's not quite that, but there was sort of a turning point moment in my case. A moment of almost falling out of my chair with "this has been my type all along hasn't it???" An excitement followed quickly by boredom, because I had a sense that even though I'll probably still be questioning this for the next year or so that part of me is not going to be torn away so easily. Darn self concepts can be so clingy.... On my initial type there was also a sense of excitement but it wasn't quite the same sort and could be just through having this whole new theoretical toy to play with and had some capacity to "get" me.

So pretty much you'll have a sense that you know it's right when you try on all the types likes shoes, checking them out for all that they are, and one of them not only fits (makes sense for your foot) but you can't wait to check them out and wear them whenever you have the opportunity.

Will you ever really know that you're right? Okay maybe not 100% but this isn't an exact science. Just trying to be hopeful

You must know yourself first. And if you're an IxxP and can't decide easily, you're just shit out of luck.

    Our Cut

MBTI is astrology for the college educated.

MBTI is not a personality test, it is a cult from the discredited guru and astrologer, Carl Jung.

And just as astrology is a form of manipulation, so is MBTI.

If we are sincere in wishing to have our personality tested, we go to a qualified psychometrician who will use a valid and reliable personality test and interpret the results.

But no one here has had their personality tested by a psychometrician, because they believe the cult of MBTI with help them manipulate themselves and others.

    Why do we do this?

We do this because we live in a culture of manipulation, whether it is pop culture or television, pornography, drugs or quick money, and we want our cut. And we think MBTI will help us get it.

I can imagine someone calling my house and playing that recorded message.

    Again.
    And again.
    And again.

    Oh no Jaguar, not again.

You don't seem to understand that almost all come here under the misapprehension that MBTI is a valid and reliable personality test, and so a valid and reliable guide to their personalities and those around them.

However if you do your research you will find MBTI is not a personality test, rather it is a manipulative cult.

And almost every day we have school children, still emotionally and financially dependent on their parents, joining Central.

And as their parents aren't here to guide them, we are in loco parentis and have a moral duty to inform these school children about the nature of MBTI.

You may be, Jaguar, still emotionally and financially dependent on your parents and so unable to assume your moral duty in loco parentis. And this is perhaps why you can't stop harrassing me.

In addition, a lot of the tests are phrased in a yes or no format when it is quite possible that both options apply to you fairly equally (Which is the case with me, especially when asked it comes to the feeling or thinking questions).

So how on earth are you supposed to know if you have the right type if you alternate between several, and none of them fit you perfectly?

I honestly don't know if anyone will be able to give an answer to this question, but it is the main question that plagues me about the mbti, and the reason I list my type as Ixxx...
In my case, a flock of doves took flight into the night sky. In the distance a crow cawed three times. Above us all a shooting star plummeted to earth; heralding a new mass extinction of dinosaurs.

Within me a blossom of peace began to bloom until I had to sing aloud how thrilled I was to have found myself at last.

I also just really liked how nicely the letters looked: I N F P. Yellow I, orange N, Purple saucy F, and teal P.

That's it? Certainly you can do better than that.
