I've never heard of this as a Ti tendency (apart from the general human tendency to do so). How very...unscientific.

Unless he was ISTP by current typology (that's another story though...) the quote itself kind of seems like a combinantion of Ti and Ni, and how it is about lighting mere being (perceiving meaning from the flow of experiences) rather than an a more active figuring it out seems more Ni-ish to me. I don't know... it would be interesting (and awkward) if Jung himself explained the type of his quote.

"In all affairs it's a healthy thing now and then to hang a question mark on the things you have long taken for granted."
    - Bertrand Russell (1872 - 1970)

"You can know the name of a bird in all the languages of the world, but when you're finished, you'll know absolutely nothing whatever about the bird... So let's look at the bird and see what it's doing -- that's what counts. I learned very early the difference between knowing the name of something and knowing something."
    - Richard Feynman (1918 - 1988)

Both are Ti, I think. Correct me if I'm wrong.

And a good one for everyone to keep in mind:

"If we value the pursuit of knowledge, we must be free to follow wherever that search may lead us. The free mind is not a barking dog, to be tethered on a ten-foot chain."

Even if they don't use Ni, they can still say something that encapsulates a function they do not prefer. That particular quote isn't just an elegant statement, it symbolizes a great deal. Whether he was INTP or not is irrelevant from the gist of the thread.

This is why I like Te better than Ti.

    Ti scares me.
