I don't know why.. but whenever I listen to this song, and sing, and dance around my living room, and bask in it's sound, I can't help but think.. "How INFJ of me to relate to this song so much!" ( And I was wondering if anyone had any other songs like that, or that remind them of something typical of type, or even can peg what type the person who wrote the song was!

Here's my INFJ song(Though it may be INFP too):

"World's on Fire" - Sarah McLachlan

Hearts are worn in these dark ages
You're not alone in this story's pages
Night has fallen amongst the living and the dying
And I try to hold it in, yeah I try to hold it in

The world's on fire and
It's more than I can handle
I'll tap into the water
(I try to bring my share)
I try to bring more
More than I can handle
(Bring it to the table)
Bring what I am able

I watch the heavens and I find a calling
Something I can do to change what's coming
Stay close to me while the sky is falling
Don't wanna be left alone, don't wanna be alone

The world's on fire and
It's more than I can handle
I'll tap into the water
(I try to bring my share)
I try to bring more
More than I can handle
(Bring it to the table)
Bring what I am able

Hearts break, hearts mend
Love still hurts
Visions clash, planes crash
Still there's talk of
Saving souls, still the cold
Is closing in on us

We part the veil on our killer sun
Stray from the straight line on this short run
The more we take, the less we become
A fortune of one that means less for some

The world's on fire and
It's more than I can handle
I'll tap into the water
(I try to bring my share)
I try to bring more
More than I can handle
(Bring it to the table)
Bring what I am able...

Fine..I'll post one for my own type then. ENFP:
(Extraordinary - Liz Phair)

You think that I go home at night
Take off my clothes, turn out the lights
But I burn letters that I write
To you, to make you love me

Yeah, I drive naked through the park
And run the stop sign in the dark
Stand in the street, yell out my heart
To make, to make you love me

I am extraordinary, if you'd ever get to know me
I am extraordinary, I am just your ordinary
Average every day sane psycho
Supergoddess
Average every day sane psycho

You may not believe in me
But I believe in you
So I still take the trash out
Does that make me too normal for you?

So dig a little deeper, cause
You still don't get it yet
See me lickin' my lips, need a primitive fix
And I'll make, I'll make you love me

I am extraordinary, if you'd ever get to know me
I am extraordinary, I am just your ordinary
Average every day sane psycho
Supergoddess
Average every day sane psycho
Supergoddess

See me jump through hoops for you
You stand there watching me performing
What exactly do you do?
Have you ever thought it's you that's boring?
Who the hell are you?

I am extraordinary, if you'd ever get to know me
I am extraordinary, I am just your ordinary
Average every day sane psycho
Supergoddess
Average every day sane psycho

Average every day sane psycho
Supergoddess
Average every day sane psycho

Average every day sane psycho
Supergoddess
Average every day sane psycho

Average every day sane psycho

The ISFP theme song?

Cigarettes and Chocolate Milk

cigarettes and chocolate milk
these are just a couple of my cravings
everything it seems i like's a little bit stronger
a little bit thicker
a little bit harmful for me

if i should buy jellybeans
have to eat them all in just one sitting
everything it seems i like's a little bit sweeter
a little bit fatter
a little bit harmful for me

and then there's those other things
which for several reasons we won't mention
everything about them is a little bit stranger
a little bit harder
a little bit deadly

it isn't very smart
tends to make one part so broken-hearted

sitting here remembering me
always been a shoe made for the city
go ahead, accuse me of just singing about places
with scrappy boys faces
have general run of the town
playing with prodigal songs
takes a lot of sentimental valiums
can't expect the world to be your raggedy andy
while running on empty
you little old doll with a frown

you got to keep in the game
maintaining mystique while facing forward
i suggest a reading of 'a lesson in tightropes'
or 'surfing your high hopes' or 'adios kansas'

it isn't very smart
tends to make one part so broken-hearted

still there's not a show on my back
holes or a friendly intervention
i'm just a little bit heiress, a little bit irish
a little bit tower of pisa whenever i see you
so please be kind if i'm a mess
cigarettes and chocolate milk

This seems INTJ-ish (or at least NT-ish) for some reason:

Great Expectations -- Styx

Everybody will be watching
Just to see what can you do
They'll be waiting, anticipating
For the genius to come through
So raise the bar up
A little higher
They expect so much of you
Feel the madness accelerating
Cause you feel the same way too

Great, Great, Great Expectations

Everybody's anxiously waiting,
Wondering what you're gonna do
And all the doctors are contemplating
Can the smart ass still pull through
Mister big shot

With all the answers
One more time through the hoop for you
Light a fire
To the whole thing
Feel the flame as you go through

Great, Great, Great Expectations

Did you think that your ambition
Would ever end up in remission
Did ya
Now did ya
Did you think your sacrifices
Would turn your dreams into your vices
Now did ya
How could ya

All the cynics & the ciphers
Make you question what you do
So turn your amp up a little louder
To drown out that void in you
While the mantra keeps repeating
There are dreams you must pursue
If you just try a little harder
There ain't nothing you can't do

Here's the one I thought of for INFJ:

Brave New World -- Styx

The lines are drawn in the sand across the caress of time
The lines are drawn in the sand across the caress of time

There's a face in the glass
Looking through the mirror
At the maze of my past
It was never clearer

On the distant horizon
The sun approaches
Better cover my eyes
Better hide the roaches

In the best of my time
There was something better
And the quest of my mind
Was to try again

Something simple and pure
As the thoughts in my head
Not the tears in the rain
Over me she shed

We were almost there
Still I was unaware

Here in the Brave New World's embrace
I watch the parade begin
Searching for one familiar face
And I wonder where I fit in
How will I know if there's a place
For me in the Brave New World

To be calm in the eye
Of the human storm
In my house full of dreams
I am safe and warm

Looking back at a life
Filled with warm embraces
No regrets only memories
Of smiling faces

We were almost there
Now change is in the air

Until now I held the zone
I ruled the world
I called it home
I never saw the down side

See the now see the Zen
There is no division
Through the eyes of a child
There is perfect vision

And the best of our lives
Resonate the hills
And the sun's gonna shine
And you know that I will...

The INTJ Anthem

I actually posted this in the "Lyrics that fit...right now" thread a while back, but it fits here too. I don't know of a more INTJish song.

Here is the INTJ Anthem...or as it is more popularly called, "I'm A Martyr For My Love For You" by The White Stripes.

She was sixteen and six feet tall
In a crowd of teenagers coming out of the zoo
She stumbled started to slip and fall
Teeter-tottered on the top of patent leather shoes
I happened to catch her and said,
"Maybe these ruby shoes are a little cumbersome for you"

Maybe for you, now

But not as shaky as I must have seemed
Talkin' junk through her giggle, little teenage dream
And on the phone I could not compete
My dumb-love fake competence was getting weak
For a sec I thought I sounded sweet
But sure enough in a gruff, faint voice
I heard myself speak

I could stay a while
But sooner or later I'll break your smile
And I can tell a joke
But one of these days I'm bound to choke
And we could share a kiss
But I feel like I can't go through with this
And I bet we could build a home
But I know the right thing for me to do
Is to leave you alone

Leave you alone, now

I'm beginning to like you
So you probably won't get what I'm going to do
I'm walking away from you
It probably don't make much sense to you
But I'm trying to save you
From all of the things that I'll probably say or do

Probably do

I could stay a while
But sooner or later I'll break your smile
And I can tell a joke
But one of these days I'm bound to choke
And we might share a kiss
But I feel like a can't go through with this
And I bet we could build a home
But I know the right thing for me to do
Is to leave you alone

Leave you alone, now

You probably call me a fool
And say I'm doing exactly what a coward would do
And I'm beginning to like you
It's a shame; what a lame way to live
But what can I do
I hope you appreciate what I do

I'm a martyr for my love for you
A martyr for my love for you, now
A martyr for my love for you
A martyr for my love for you

Colbie Caillat Lyrics

YouTube - Ingrid Michaelson - Take me the way I am

The Way I Am

As Heard on Old Navy Commercial
Ingrid Michaelson - Girls and Boys - The Way I Am

From Last Call with Carson Daly:

If you were falling, then I would catch you.
You need a light, I'd find a match.

Cuz I love the way you say good morning.
And you take me the way I am.

If you are chilly, here take my sweater.
Your head is aching, I'll make it better.

Cuz I love the way you call me baby.
And you take me the way I am.

I'd buy you Rogaine if you start losing all your hair.
Sew on patches to all you tear.

Cuz I love you more than I could ever promise.
And you take me the way I am.
You take me the way I am.
You take me the way I am.

For ENTP's though... hm. Perhaps Not Your Stepping Stone by The Monkees? Or maybe Joe's Garage by Frank Zappa...

My personal theme tune is Candy Says by the Velvet Underground, of which Blind Melon did a pretty decent cover.

Candy says, "I've come to hate my body
and all that it requires in this world"
....
Candy says, "I hate the big decisions
that cause endless revisions in my mind"

I was laughing at "Weasel Stomping Day" tonight by Weird Al, due to a few classic SJ stanzas:

People love them down the street
Crushing weasels beneath their feet
Why we do it, who can say?
But it's such a festive holiday!

So let the stomping fun begin
Bash their weasely skulls right in
It's tradition, that makes it okay

I'm still not fully certain I'm INFp and not INFj, but here are some songs that resonate strongly with me and believe them to be representation of INFP.

Sophia by The Cruxshadows

(spoken)
"The human animal is a beautiful and terrible creature, capable of limitless compassion and unfathomable cruelty."

When life is left behind this isolation
Cruelty and hatred have become
The cause of those whose eyes are full of wanting
The truth will still abandon none

So you must carry this light into the darkness
You shall be a star unto the night
You will find hope alive among the hopeless
That is your purpose to this life

The lips draw words and hands find actions
Still there is more within one heart
Into the silence will you answer
Before the chaos will you come

Do not injustice to another
Defend the weak and innocent
Let truth and honor always guide you
Let courage find the light within

Stand up when no one else is willing
Act not in hatred or in spite
Be to this world as a perfect knight
Even if it means your life

Here I am
Alive among the injured and the dead
Here I am
Thy will be done
Sancta Sophia (Here I am)
Pieces born to your victory
Athena Sophia (Here I am)
Thy will be done (How can I hope to live)
What I cannot dream

You cannot map the ways of divinity
This much is known only unto God

And through these doubts and through your confusion
Know that you are chosen to this fight
Look to find a soul filled with compassion
Look to see a living source of light

Do not injustice to another
Defend the weak and innocent Let truth and honor always guide you
Let courage find the light within

Stand up when no one else is willing
Act not in hatred or in spite
Be to this world as a perfect knight
Even if it means your life

Here I am
Alive among the injured and the dead
Here I am
Thy will be done
Sancta Sophia (Here I am)
Pieces born to your victory
Athena Sophia (Here I am)
Thy will be done (How can I hope to be)
What I can't believe

(spoken)
"The human animal is a beautiful and terrible creature, capable of limitless compassion and unfathomable cruelty. If you wish to find that which becomes the dividing line between mankind and other biological classifications, it rests not in brain size, dominance, or even emotional capability, but lies in the unique capacity for human beings to reflect on their actions and show regret, what is most certainly the ability to empathize, that gives them their position. All animals understand love and affection, but only man shows the propensity to place himself into the shoes of another life form. Losing this capability, among individuals of this species, reduces them below their much heralded position, and readies the climate for the likely fall of man, the fall from grace."

Do not injustice to another
Defend the weak and innocent
Let truth and honor always guide you
Let courage find the light within

Stand up when no one else is willing
Act not in hatred or in spite
Be to this world as a perfect knight
Even if it means your life

Here I am
Alive among the injured and the dead
Here I am
Thy will be done
Sancta Sophia (Here I am)
Pieces born to your victory
Athena Sophia (Here I am)
Thy will be done (How can I hope to find)
What I cannot see

Here I am
Alive among the injured and the dead
Here I am
Thy will be done
Sancta Sophia (Here I am)
Pieces born to your victory
Athena Sophia (Here I am)
Thy will be done (How can I hope to be)
What's inside of me.

I will be there for you by Jessica Andrews

When I lost faith, you believed in me.
When I stumbled, you were right there.
For every act of love you've done, I owe you one.

There were hard times.
I know I survived just because you stayed by my side
With all I have, with all I am, I promise you all my life.

Whenever the road is too long,
Whenever the wind is too strong,
Wherever this journey may lead to,
I will be there for you.
Oh, I will be there for you.

Through sorrow,
On the darkest night,
When theres heartache deep down inside,
Just like a prayer,
You will be there,
And I promise you all my life.

Whenever the road is too long,
Whenever the wind is too strong,
Wherever this journey may lead to,
I will be there for you.
Oh, I will be there...

Whenever the road is too long,
Whenever the wind is too strong,
Wherever this journey may lead to,
I will be there for you.
Oh yes, I will be there for you.

Ill always be there.

A slightly bitter take on being there for others and lack of reciprocation.

Trapped In Your Labyrinth by Liv Kristine

You always thought I'd be someone
Someone to comfort you at times
When you seem to give it up
I carry, carry you away

I always have the strength to fight
To be so strong when you are weak
But no one asks me what I feel
And no one ask me what I need

Do you feel what I need?
Realise I am here
I am trapped in your labyrinth
I wish I could find my way out

I tried to unveil the truth
But you don't seem to understand
I'm showing you the best in me
And never, ever asked for more

Not so much a theme song, but one I still think fits xNFx very well regarding the search for enlightenment and inner self.

Return To India by Xandria

Sun rays touching my skin like a stream of gold
Beauty, fame and wealth smell nice on top of the world
Made my day, this day made me the blessed one
My achievements will shine bright when all the smoke is gone

All those years and with all my heart reaching out for what would broaden my horizon
Perpetual striving made my life complete and now that I reached new dimensions
I wonder why, I wonder why

There's still something in my head I fail to explain
Falling deep into this void, only silence to remain
Sheer enlightenment of the soul that's what I hoped to find
Reduced to instincts I've to see there will be no peace of mind

Left behind the ghosts I knew so well, stepped into the light, into a new beginning
But can it be I miss their company, need their guidance and advice to define
The inner me

Where's my dream of India?
Dead-end street to India
Been so close and yet so far
No return to India

Expectations once so high now seem down and low
They once sent shivers down my spine, now make me tremble in my bones
Where's the dream that made me be, made me carry on
Gave my longing for an end just to find that nothings won

Means to an end we're dedicated to might set an end to all those means we have to offer
I can't escape from this lifelong dream, I'm a captive of it's shadows, awaken, end to all sleep

Where's my dream of India?
Dead-end street to India
Been so close and yet so far
Give me back my India

(spoken)
Once we have reached our destiny,
we understand that is different from the dearest wishes of the beginning.
It is much deeper broader, sometimes greater.
Either we understand,
Or we sail on and on and on...

Another song thats not a type specific theme song, but one I think anyone thats felt pressure to be somethgin other than their true self will relate to (its one I strongly relate to anyway).

Figue in the Mirror by L'Ame Immortelle

Every time you put this mask on your face
A little piece of your soul dies away

The figure in the mirror is not me
A different reality
It's just a picture that you see
From my true self, I do flee

What I feel and what I see
I do through eyes of an enemy
Forced by powers pushing me
Resulting in fear and misery

I change myself to fit the needs....
During this mutation my heart bleeds
Trying to adjust to Society
Not anymore I want to be free

The figure in the mirror is not me
A different reality
It's just a picture that you see
From my true self, I do flee

Only a few could break the shell
Surrounding my soul's polluted well
Drink from it and you will see
All the pain that rests in me

It's like Pandora's box
With a number of haunted locks
The one who sees deep inside
knows all the feelings I do hide

The figure in the mirror is not me
A different reality
It's just a picture that you see
From my true self, I do flee

Once you took a look inside of me
You decide between joy and misery
If you abuse the things you know

The figure in the mirror is not me
A different reality
It's just a picture that you see
From my true self, I do flee

I don't know How Soon is Now by The Smiths seems like a good INFP song. At least it fits me well.

I am the sun I am the air
Of a shyness that is criminally vulgar
I'm son and heir
Of nothing in particular

You, shut your mouth!
How can you say
I go about things the wrong way
I am Human and I need to be loved
Just like everybody else does

There's a club if you'd like to go
You could meet somebody who really loves you
So you go and you stand on your own
And you leave on your own
And you go home and you cry
And you want to die

When you say it's gonna happen now
Well, when exactly do you mean
See, I've already waited too long
And all my hope is gone

You, shut your mouth!
How can you say
I go about things the wrong way
I am human and I need to be loved
Just like everybody else does

Here's one that sounds INTP-ish to me for some reason:

Thom Yorke - Analyze

A self-fulfilling prophecy of endless possibility
You roll in reams across the street
In algebra, in algebra

The fences that you cannot climb
The sentences that do not rhyme
In all that you can ever change
The one you're looking for

It gets you down
It gets you down

There's no spark
No light in the dark

It gets you down
It gets you down
You traveled far
What have you found
That there's no time
There's no time
To analyse
To think things through
To make sense

Like cows in the city, they never looked so pretty
By power carts and blackouts
Sleeping like babies

It gets you down
It gets you down
You're just playing a part
You're just playing a part

You're playing a part
Playing a part
And there's no time
There's no time
To analyse
Analyse

I guess because these lyrics/song seem romantic and sad it has always felt like a part of who I was. YouTube - Pearl Jam - Black
Pearl Jam: Black

Hey...oooh...
Sheets of empty canvas, untouched sheets of clay
Were laid spread out before me as her body once did
All five horizons revolved around her soul
As the earth to the sun
Now the air I've tasted and breathed has taken a turn
Ooh, and all I taught her was everything
Ooh, I know she gave me all that she wore
And now my bitter hands chafe beneath the clouds
Of what was everything?
Oh, the pictures have all been washed in black, tattooed everything...

I take a walk outside
I'm surrounded by some kids at play
I can feel their laughter, so why do I sear
Oh, and twisted thoughts that spin round my head
I'm spinning, oh, I'm spinning
How quick the sun can drop away
And now my bitter hands cradle broken glass
Of what was everything
All the pictures have all been washed in black, tattooed everything...

All the love gone bad turned my world to black
Tattooed all I see, all that I am, all I will be...yeah...
Uh huh...uh huh...ooh...

I know someday you'll have a beautiful life, I know you'll be a star
In somebody else's sky, but why, why, why
Can't it be, can't it be mine

And another ENFP one:

"Moon River"
YouTube - "Moon River" - Acoustic Cover (I love this guy)
Moon River, wider than a mile,
I'm crossing you in style some day.
Oh, dream maker, you heart breaker,
wherever you're going I'm going your way.
Two drifters off to see the world.
There's such a lot of world to see.
We're after the same rainbow's end--
waiting 'round the bend,
my huckleberry friend,
Moon River and me.

I had several acquaintances recommend this as my theme song.

I'll confess I had no idea what they were talking about until someone played it on the jukebox at the bar -- and then I laughed my ass off. :D

ESxP: Chicks Dig It by Chris Cagle

Hey yall watch this!

Daddys belt, mamas drapes
Standin tall on the backyard shed
Lookin cool in my superman cape
I told the neighbourhood girls
Said hey yall, watch this
My fate was a broken arm
And my reward a one day kiss
When daddy asked me why I did it
I made him laugh out loud when I told him
Cause the chicks dig it

Scars heal... glory fades
And all were left with are the memories made, oh yeah
Pain hurts, but only for a minute
Yeah life is short so go on and live it
Cause the chicks dig it

Oh yeah
Mmmm

Black top road, learner permit
Thought I was earnhardt
Drivin fast, but I didnt see the ditch
Took out a mailbox, then a fence, then a barn
The police came and called my father
But I met the farmers daughter
And when the judge asked me why I did it
He threw the book at me when I told him
Cause the chicks dig it

Scars heal... glory fades
And all were left with are the memories made, oh yeah
Pain hurts, but only for a minute
Life is short so go on and live it
Cause the chicks dig it

Oh yeah
Ohh, oh

Just throw caution to the wind my friend
And then sit back and watch your life begin, cause

Scars heal... glory fades
And all were left with are the memories made
Yeah pain hurts, but only for a minute
Yeah, lifes short so go on and live it
Cause the chicks dig it

Scars heal... glory fades
And all were left with are the memories made
Pain hurts, but only for a minute
Yeah life is short so go on and live it
It dont matter if you lose or ifyou win it
Hey the chicks dig it
Oh yeah
Chicks dig it
Mmm
The chicks dig it
Ah, hey, aw yeah
The chicks dig it

But I got the girl, hah, oh

ENTP, perhaps? (My first guess was ESTP but I do sense a bit of the N there, maybe from all the similes)

Tiger Woods

I got big balls
Big ole balls
Big as grapefruits
Big as pumpkins
Yes sir, yes sir
And on my really good days
They swell to the size of small dogs
My balls are as big as small dogs

Well, it ain't braggin' if it's true
Yes sir, yes sir
It ain't braggin' if it's true
Mohammed Ali said that
Back when he was a young man
Back when he was Casius Clay
Before he fought too many fights
And left his brain inside the ring

Sometimes I wish I was Tiger Woods
Tiger Woods, Tiger Woods
Sometimes I wish I was Tiger Woods
Tiger Woods, Tiger Woods

I got a friend whose goal in life
Was to one day go down on Madonna
That's all he wanted
That was all
To one day go down on Madonna
And when my friend was thirty-four
He got his wish in Rome one night
He got to go down on Madonna
In Rome one night in some hotel
And ever since he's been depressed
'Cause life is shit from here on in
And all our friends just shake their heads
And say, "Too soon, too soon, too soon,
He went down on Madonna too soon
Too young, too young, too soon, too soon"

And it ain't braggin' if it's true
Yes sir, yes sir
It ain't braggin' if it's true
Mohammed Ali said that
Back when he was Casius Clay
Before he fought too many fights
And left his brain inside the ring

Sometimes I wish I was Tiger Woods
Tiger Woods, Tiger Woods
Sometimes I wish I was Tiger Woods
Tiger Woods, Tiger Woods

If certain girls don't look at you
It means that they like you a lot
If other girls don't look at you
It just means they're ignoring you
How can you know, how can you know?
Which is which, who's doing what?
I guess that you can ask 'em
Which one are you baby?
Do you like me or are you ignoring me?
Do you like me or are you ignoring me?
Do you like me or are you ignoring me?
And all you need to do that
Is one good pair of big balls
Balls as big as grapefruits
Balls as big as pumpkins
Balls as big as mine

But even though my balls are big
Sometimes i wish they were bigger
Even bigger
Big as the wheels on tractors
Big as the golden arches
Big as the Golden Gate Bridge
Big as the state of Kansas
Big as Mars and Jupiter
Big as the swing in Tiger Woods
Tiger Woods
Tiger Woods
