Also why is labeling someone socialist bad? One of the worlds strongest economys(EU) is socialist.

No it is not. The EU economy is a market economy with strong corporatist elements. The main difference between corporatism and socialism is that under the former private property is intact, and wealth is concentrated in private hands. Nationalizations do occur, but they serve the purpose of socialising the losses, while keeping the profits in private hands.

The defining aspect of socialism is that private property is abolished, and that enterprises are not allowed to accumulate profit, but function as non-profit organizations that give everything they do not require for maintanance / investment to the state /people. Welfare for the rich is not "socialism" either, it is simply capitalists using the power their wealth has granted them to further enrich themselves. People seem to often forget that money buys power, and that therefor the freedom to accumulate as much money / property as possible and the idea of democracy are fundamentally incompatible.

I was thinking about this today. I was raised conservative (and christian). Yes, I'm sure that horrifies people. But I feel like I almost have a leg up on being able to see more than one side.

I was thinking about if there is a benefit to the more conservative leaning types being raised liberal or the more liberal leaning types being raised conservative.

Ha! I can relate to this Elaur. My family is mostly Liberal, but my environment was almost always fundamentalist Christian and Conservative. I was Liberal in high school, then leaned to the far right socially and fiscally for about three years, and then went far-left for about a year. After that, I joined the Libertarian party at my university.:D Typical NF stuff. On most political test, I come out a left leaning Libertarian, but in practice and by definition, I'm more of Libertarian Centrist.

I don't really bother thinking about politics. I think politics are just too complicated for me. I'd rather let smarter people handle that stuff.

I'm an ENFP, and I'm apolitical for the most part.

I'm highly individualistic, and I've never belonged to a political party.

Probably the closest description of my views would be "Right Libertarian", but I'm uncomfortable with the word "Right."

For most people, it suggests "Republican", but I am certainly not a Republican.

I am both socially and fiscally libertarian, so I believe in a VERY small government.

I used to be more of a Left Libertarian, but my views have been slightly altered due to some advances in personal growth.

I feel more empowered to acheive my goals, and I would like to see others feel empowered as well.

I believe in the right to own capital, and to market one's talents as an entrepreneur.

The ideal political system, for me, would encourage that kind of acheivement, by allowing as much freedom as possible to individuals, and cut waste so we can stop being overtaxed.

I'm not talking about anarchy, but a considerably stripped down version of American democracy.

So, if you elect me as President, I'll take an axe to the current bureaucracy.

LOL--WONKA for PRES in the year 2012! :bananallama:

(That's assuming that the world hasn't ended yet, by reptilian invasion from outer space. ;) )

Barack Obama is an ENFP at least from what I understand, and is slightly right of center.

If Obama's an ENFP, then I'm the queen of Uganda.

Also, I think the whole "left-right-center" stuff is pretty much nonsense, because everybody places the center of the scale in a different place.

Socially very liberal, economically leaning towards the left although I've no strong feelings about that, as I think almost any system could work or fail depending on how thoughtfully it's set up and managed.

Yes, I think if you had to place Obama on the British scale he'd be closer to our Conservative Party than any other, both economically and socially (and they're not thought to be fond of our health system either, but don't let them hear you suggest so ;)). However if he's left of the average American politician, it makes sense to place him on the American left, doesn't it?

"no drama" Obama is INTP, Democrat Es like Clinton and Joe Biden don't stfu, his lack of prior management experience was not surprising - INTPs are the least likely of all NTs to be CEOs or executive leaders

ENTPs are rarely social conservatives, we're usually nuanced libertarians or liberals who will irritate you to death describing how unique our viewpoints are

my girlfriend is ENFP and like the others of that type here is fairly apolitical, far more interested in the personal stories of the politicians than their ideologies

xNFJs like to impose their usually liberal views on you, and think they can convince anyone who disagrees they're wrong, almost as bad as debating ENTPs

ISTJs like to end political discussions before they start - too much potential for conflict and chaos

ENTJ - breading ground for future Republican presidents

I concur with Nigel's observations, except the NFJ bit. They will express political views in the hope of convincing others, but don't impose them in my experience.

I'm a socio-anarchist. ( I'm Left leaning on economic issues, and I prefer freedom in social issues.)

I'm fed up with politics in America. Obama's a great leader, but I don't think we'll be experiencing any real change for a long time.

As far as environmentalism goes, I think it is important to separate our industrial outlets from "nature". However, nature itself is a dynamic system, and therefore it is a waste of time to "preserve" it. I'm more concerned about the preservation of the human race.

Right-wing libertarian, want smaller government, liberal on most social issues (Women's rights, gay rights), though not on immigration. I see immigration from collectivistic societies as a threat to the western way of life.

Saying that I am basically anything other than Transhumanist in my bottom line would be a lie or clear oversimplification. I have lost firm faith in human nature and therefore to me entire human nature looks more like a problem than something else. (and stereotypical political questions are just a consequences of human nature)

I can agree with that. That's one of the reasons I believe seperation of executive, legislation and judical powers is the greatest achievement of western democracy.
