It's either N/S or T/F and it depends how you define successful relationship.

That is a very good point that I didn't consider. It would make perfect since for different people to define a successful relationship in a different way. I can already think of a perfect scenario to fit this.

Person A is in a relationship with person B. Person A's definition of a successful relationship is sharing deep thoughts and feelings with each other. Person B's definition of a successful relationship is being able to have fun with that person all the time without worries of going deep. Both people go out and have fun all the time, so person B feels like the relationship is successful. Person A, however, feels empty because person B doesn't feel it necessary to talk about his/her thoughts and feelings with person A.

So, in order for the relationship to even be successful in the first place, both parties need to understand each others' definition of a successful relationship.

Overall, as I said before, it comes down to open communication. If both parties' definition of a successful relationship is totally different, then there could be some problems with that relationship. This is especially true if one person is not willing to try and understand the view points of the other person.
