hmmm...

What about Smashing pumpkins for INTP?

Too mainstream and a little too emo-ish.

Zappa's stuff is cerebral, weird, complex, obscure, sarcastic, ironic... The Pumpkins were just Billy Corgan whining.

I used to be into Death Cab when I was 19 and I lived in Washington. I even met the singer at a little club when they weren't big at all. But they don't have enough "mmph" to be a favorite band, I don't think...

To be honest, this list can't be right... I just made it for fun (plus, my favorite band is actually Radiohead, and I love all the below bands!).

INTJ/INTP - Radiohead
ENTJ/ENTP - Bob Marley
ISFJ/ESFJ - The Beach Boys
ISTJ/ESTJ - The Beatles
ISFP/ESFP - Van Morrison
ISTP/ESTP - The Clash
INFP/ENFP - Bob Dylan
INFJ/ENFJ - Morrissey

I'll play...

INFJ - The Smiths, The Cure, Godspeed! You Black Emperor, Elliott Smith, Boards of Canada, Will Oldham, Dead Can Dance, Aimee Mann, Clinic
ISTJ - Tool, A Perfect Circle, Coheed & Cambria, Eagles of Death Metal
INFP - Death Cab for Cutie, Sufjan Stevens, Bjork
INTP - The Mars Volta, Autechre
ENFP - Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Snow Patrol, The Killers, Coldplay, NIN (Just for CC)

*I'm sure there is much overlap between INFJ and INFP. I gave the INFPs the artists my INFP sister likes that I don't. :)

Heh, I won't, seems Malia has fairly claimed them for the ISFPs. Hmm I might give you guys Placebo instead :p :p (kidding!)

Yeah this is so much easier and less messy doing it by temperament

SJ: Alan Jackson, Tim McGraw ("I miss back when" indeed)
SP: Andrew W.K. (party party party party party party party party)
NT: Tool, Dream Theater (look how technically complex I am!)
NF: Tori Amos (look how emotionally complex I am!)

;)

Stop giving the worst music to ESFJs. Those groups are awful (except for The Beach Boys and some Robbie Williams). Dave Matthews Band? Yeesh.

Also, don't hate on 1990s Smashing Pumpkins. Billy Corgan was really great once.

^Heh, my ESFJ friend is the hugest Robbie Williams fan... I couldn't even think of anyone else for ESFJs thanks to that. I think he is very cheeky and fun.
