To be functional, I find at least 5 does it. To feel energized and not running on empty, at least 7.

Typically 6-8 hours during the workweek, depending on how late I eat, work, or what social activities keep me occupied. I can't function well at all with less, far less if it's consistently inconsistent. I do envy my pets that are wired to charge randomly throughout the day, especially since I'm a morning person and wake with energy, gradually waning throughout the day.

I read this thread today and here are the "trends"...

Most ENTPs and ENTJs doesnt sleep much (like 6-7 hours) and I especulate thats because they might think that sleeping is quite a waste of time.
Most ENFPs and INFPs seems to like to sleep and does an average of 9 hours a day, some 10.
Most INTPs has the very irregular and exotic sleeping schedule.
The other types didnt appear enough on the thread.
Of course there are other factors but this is was the thread idea 10 years ago (just re-read the first post).

And I do sleep 9 hours a day like INFP/ENFP (a little bit less actually) and I do sleep irregularly like INTP (have been getting more regular although, it used to be very exotic in the past).

I have found my perfect medium is between 5-7 hours. If I sleep more, I feel groggy and weighed the day. If I sleep less, I feel so much brainfog.

5-6 is fine. I don't feel great, but at the same time, I can't sleep longer than that.

It's a difficult question because what really constitutes need? I could survive three days without a wink of sleep--that's exactly what I did one time. I could also sleep 12 hours in a day, as I often do, and still feel exhausted upon awakening.
