Why do people want to do things to purposefully piss other people off?
Relationships have normal ebbs and flows. They do not automatically get better and better when the participants learn more and more about each other. Instead, the participants have to work through the tensions of the relationship (the dialectic) while they learn and group themselves and a parties in a relationships. At times the relationships is very open and sharing. Other time, one or both parties to the relationship need their space, or have other concerns, and the relationship is less open. The theory posits that these cycles occur throughout the life of the relationship as the persons try to balance their needs for privacy and open relationship.

    2. yesss, that's it, multiply, MULTIPLY!!

the above post of mine reminded me of another exchange with a different friend yesterday. one of about seven years.

upon seeing a shopping bag they had brought by two days before still sitting on my counter unopened:

SJ: *sigh* you haven't even looked to see what it is.

me: no, i'm building my character by denying myself.

SJ: [after talking about the weather and gas prices for a few minutes, pauses, then...] so. you're not even CURIOUS as to what it is?

    me: nope

SJ: [after a long, obviously painful pause] you're seriously not going to look?

    me: my character's still shaky.

SJ: in a hundred years, i'll never ever understand you.

(the bag is still on the counter. it doesn't matter what's in it. however great it is, its twice as good with the effect it's having just sitting there for a while added on to its regular/natural goodness.)
If the bag contained a gift, that's pretty rude. (Perhaps I misunderstood?)

I would go with chicken of some sort. Nothing gets to stinkin' faster than chicken.

i'm not saying that to be mean, btw, just saying that i didn't post to be talked down to or corrected. my goal was not to be made into a 'better person' by yours or anyone else's standards.

Indeed I don't. The "what" was indicative that I have no clue what the comment I got means. (And I'm not being metaphysical here; I seriously have no idea what you meant.)
